I was watching this documentary on WW1 and the battle at Flanders Field...where so many young boys were killed in the flower of their youth. The narrator said that most had died without ever experiencing sex for the first time which stuck me so deeply. The central act of human maturity and they were sent to die before ever doing it . These simple words can spark a greater understanding of the time we have on earth and how we are tied more to need than to want and desire........Nicely written/ dana

Thanks for stopping by and adding the lovely review.
I love this poem! It is so honest and has a touch of the raw that tend to gravitate to. It is beautiful. It reminds me of the Richard Brautigan poems that I stumbled across on a long journey to find them. This is great.

Senryu .. yes ? I hope someday I can put so much into few words !
No man cannot live by sex alone..although it is a very enjoyable part of life I must say ! But I understand your message..anything and that does include food ..used to excess is not a good thing.. moderation..self control..are important muscles to strengthen..

I will stop there soon.
Thanks for the invitation.
In a theory in psychology like of Maslow's heirarchy of needs, along with the basic needs like breathing and foods, man as being needs sex as well. So basically sexual intimacy is as important as oxygen, but of course one cannot live by it alone that is because in all aspect we need to live in equilibrium...
I like this, few words but speak a lot!

I am going through my turn of reading works of other writers now.
I must thank you for citing Maslow's heirarchy of needs.
This is very pertinent to explain my piece.
You must be an expert of psychology,I guess.

What I have said is the very first idea that struck in my mind
while reading your substantial piece. But you know what, this really haunts me, the reason why also I am back here, discussing with you.
There is this another interpretation in the other part of my mind.
I view FOOD as a representation of NEEDS
SEX as the WANTS or in a most deeper sense PASSION.
So it is now NEEDS versus PASSION, as they normally say it. But for me it should not be like that since NEEDS sustain our life while PASSION keeps us alive. In every state of being there should be a present of two to have balance ( equilibrium in a broader sense). Can you imagine a world or a life without equilibrium. It is a total dissolution, so we can not just brush it off and dwell ourself in just a matter of our needs (FOOD) or also in our passion (SEX).
