The Colour Green

Written for an event in connection with the World Environment Day...

I searched;

Searched everywhere for

The colour Green.

I searched up and down,

Left and right, far and wide;

But it was nowhere to be seen.

I searched;

And saw many colours - dusty brown,

Plastic white, grey of smoke.

I searched and saw a

Thousand colours, but not Green;

And my heart broke.

I searched;

And saw black waters, skies

Of a polluted blue.

I searched and saw a

Million shades, but not one of Green;

And my sadness grew.

I searched;

And saw the wilted red roses,

The dull yellow sun.

I searched and saw a

Myriad of colours, but not Green;

I had forced it to run.

If we want to keep the color green in our lives we need to change our ways. Already, it is disappearing rapidly. Your poem shows what life could end up as if we don't stop following down this path. A great write. Thank you.

Well done! I do have to agree with the previous review that perhaps that last line could be thought through a bit more. Apart from that, even with it if it is what you as a poet want, this is well written and follows through on the thought. If you change it, please let me know, I'd love to see what you come up with.

Elegant, although I feel that the last line is a bit out of order. The lack of green these days is really saddening, and that is typified in this poem nicely.
