Life of a PalestinianA Poem by zahidarizviGazing at the remains
of the shattered buildings around me Hands tied up. Mouth sealed,
forehead pressed in to the gravel The edge of the
soldier’s gun poked in to my nape I shut my eyes waiting
for death to strike me Suddenly, there was an
explosion a mile away Smoke filled the air
around The soldier collapsed
on to the ground next to me, With a bullet right
through his forehead I moved away and ran
as fast as I could, I looked back at the
remains of another building brought down at the Gaza border Staring at the soldier
who tied me down lying in a pool of blood lifeless I ran as fast I could
with a ray of hope beaming within my heart as I had a gift of another day of
live. © 2018 zahidarizvi |
