Cinque Mesi

Another Italian and Latin poem, this time for the fifth month.

Cinque Mesi

An ancient love arisen from the bones of adoration itself. Its resurrection being our passion burning the air between us- only until our embrace envelops its flame-

And extinguish it not,
For our love has begot,
And taken my every thought,
And with these feelings,
of which its wrought,
Forth, back, and beyond recompense,
For it is beyond me to forge a sentence,
When my breath has been stolen,
As my heart's been swollen,

A cause to stumble for words,
Yes I stumble for words...

For what could I write...
Could I write for you?
From thought, from sight...
No, no it won't do,
Never will do...
Perhaps a sonnet...a haiku?

Yes a haiku for it I've not done,
From a hundred poems, no not one,
But of English writ, no no it will not do,
Latin? No Italian, I shall write for you,

I tuoi capelli
Sorriso seducente
Occhi sublimi

But far to short,
Yes could never prove your beauty,
To describe you is folly,
and this I say truly...

Oh but so short...inadequately so,
But forse you'll see my codice segreto,

Sixteen of one,
Twenty eight of four,

Only you I'll adore, evermore,

Seventeen of five,
Three of twenty three,
Two of twenty four,

Nevermore alone you'll be,

Twenty nine of twenty eight,
Eight of thirty two,
And of thirty four, thirteen,

Your favorite number to reveal what remains unseen,

Even then but rabble,
Of what you deserve but a shell,
It seems I do babble,
Perhaps a Terzanelle?

From the trench of an ever aching heart,
You now have emblazed with your passion,
I had always known I would love you from the start,

As I did in the most adoring fashion,
You being more than I could have wished,
With but a stare you had me, without action,

My love I'll not have relinquished,
Whether one hundred years or eternity,
But each day to have your body ravished,

For now five months our love of divinity,
And all our time has been bided,
For no doubts ever had validity,

For you my dear my love has been sided,
My kiss upon your lips ever to be bestowed,
As our hearts and minds never to be divided,

With you until death now you'll be followed,
Relieved of my entrenched heart,
And for it never again to be hollowed,
For I have always loved you from the start,

And I know our love will ever advance,
It to break, never a chance,

Five months today, yes five months have past,
Again I entreat you they not be the last,
