An Inch of Comfort

An Inch of Comfort

A Poem by Zi

It’s alright.

Close your eyes

Just take a deep

breath, and lean

your head back.

When you open

your eyes again,

It will all be over.

Count back from

ten. Breathe

deeply. There

you go. It’s not

so bad after all.

I’ll be there the

whole time. The

last thing you

see before you

go under, the

first thing when

you wake. There

is nothing to be

afraid of. Not

anymore. Not

with me by your

side. The pain

will be temporary.

They’ll give you

something to

help take the

edge off. I’ll bring

you food, a

blanket, a friend

to comfort you.

It’s alright.
