SnipsA Story by z03snippets of life He was both Mickey and Brian’s best friend, but to her, he will always be her first romantic interest. They had history, and a
very complicated one, but he was still the only guy to make her heart beat
faster than normal. They both walked in silence, him looking completely
unreadable, and her wishing with every fiber of her being that he would say something,
anything, that would bring her closure as to what might have been if she had
said yes. But the truth remained that he was a coward, and she
was proud. So they both remained silent. ....... She didn’t know exactly when she realized that she was
lonely, but she knew she was. It wasn’t such a terrible realization, mind you,
it was actually quite relieving. At least now she knew all those daydreams and
made up worlds originate from something that is, well… normal! However, this realization had its effects on her life. For
instance, she stopped rejecting every guy that looked her way. She started
actually considering whether the short handsome guy could actually be a
possible soul mate, and if her decision to turn him down was actually the wrong
choice. But the real first chance she took wasn’t that bad… He was short, with dark blond hair and eyeglasses, a quiet
guy always wearing dress-shirts and holding a suitcase. But what actually
convinced her to give him a shot was his choice of “important topics to
introduce”. She always loved sophisticated people… Needless to say, that didn’t work out… he was just too
quiet, and she couldn’t, hard as she tried, to picture herself spending the
rest of her life with this guy… Her second chance wasn’t that far away. The very next day her father tells her someone is
interested, and since she’s been open to the idea, why not check him out? She thought ‘what are the odds that this person could actually be what I’m looking for? He’s 26, probably just wants to get married asap! He has a job and everything, and wants a pretty little housewife just like my aunt (who was the link of introduction).’ And now, 3 months later, here she is sitting with him in a
café, thinking how great this person is, and how compatible they are… she will
not find a better match for herself that thinks and loves and lives just the
way she wants. But there was one thing missing: love Well not love per se… just a spark of it, that’s all she wanted…
it wasn’t that she didn’t love him, she just didn’t get the chance to love him.
They didn’t see much of each other over the course of these past few months.
They always seemed to have exams or some obligation or the other. And he was a
bit shy… not quiet, like the other one, just a little bit cautious. And she
knew the reason… but that was still a little slow for her. Maybe she should just tell him outright: this is too slow
for me! “How do you evaluate our relation- what we have? Or what is
it actually?” HE asked!! ‘I’m glad you asked’ she thought, then said “Well I like how thing are going, but they’re just taking
too long, and I don’t know what to do about that.” Pause.. “How do you evaluate
it?”
“I guess I’m just waiting for the emotional spark… to get to
the next level” he said. © 2017 z03 |
