Ballad of the Drummer’s Din

Ballad of the Drummer’s Din

A Poem by Yvonne Remington
"

A Noisy neighbor can be amusing, sometimes!

"

There once was a tiny pink bungalow secluded on Flamingo Lane
The landlord was fussy and finding a proper tenant was forever in vane
A troublesome lodger was the landlord and neighbor’s worst fear
The road was quiet so the abode remained empty most of the year

Then did appear the rumbling Harley bike one summer morning
A blonde cougar with a large backpack arrived without warning
First there was nothing and hardly a sound did she spate
She left in the morning and in her bungalow before eight

The months went by and being neighborly was beyond reason
Her windows were always open in the heat of the season
No well wishes from the biker did she give to those around her
No occasional visitors to the bungalow or guests did occur.

When least expected and the people were used to no sound
The drums she did take up and daily she would pound
Always the same tune never better and sometimes worse
For months, every afternoon the din she would disperse

Her neighbors and landlord pursed their lips in disgust
But the noise went on no matter how much they did fuss
Then without warning the drums were silent and the sound abated
And once again the pink bungalow was silent and awaited

This is my second round on this website. My hiatus helped me develop into short stories. I have an anthology on Smashwords, but I realized I needed a community of like minded people. Please read, .. more..
