A Little Dose of Reality

On the recent Kashmir issue. Ramblings of A Raging Mind.

But the sky is still up, 

and we're laughing, in denial

...while blood is shed.

Worthless, so worthless,

perhaps, for those living

carefully sheltered lives

and all their perfectly manicured

hands can do is scroll 

down to another post...

something happy, to keep 

the mind away from 

a little dose of reality.

There are no secrets, 

but which are laid bare 

in the open, yet still curtained,

while we wait

...for another looming

disaster.

I saw this 'Save Kashmir' post on facebook, and some people actually reacted 'haha' on it, which is what inspired this piece.

Makes me sad to see some find humor in bloodshed...

Where loss of life is concerned it is tragic. Conflict is tragic. It doesn't matter what side you are on, there are no winners in these situations. How anyone can laugh about an issue that serious is beyond me. Crass ignorance I would say Dr Y. Your lines tell the sad story.

I am guilty of scrolling down thru all the mass shootings in the USA this past week & then going to write a funny poem about tomatoes. It isn't that I'm in denial . . . it's just that saying ANYTHING about ANYTHING right now in the USA brings on conflict (I just finished perusing my FB friends who are all in a massive broiling name-calling argument over whether Trump's rhetoric brings on these multiple mass shootings). I just happen to prefer leaving all that boiling anger & judgment to others with more energy than me. I have fibromyalgia & a central tenet of my living without pain pills is to be relaxed, not tense. Even tho I'm presenting a different angle, I do agree with your message, that there's so much unbelievable flippant disregard for human suffering plastered everywhere on the internet. I admire you for taking a stand, even tho I'm taking the "head-in-sand" route (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I think, in the broader sense, we're all guilty in some way or the other, of scrolling down issues, and I don't think it's such a bad thing but the haha reacts really triggered me :x Personally, I'm not a fan either of commenting on political issues because it generally leads nowhere, sadly...

Indeed this could be about Syria, Yemen, Turkish and Syrian Kurds, Ukraine or the DRC. So sad that we stand by and allow such atrocities. Love the descriptions you have placed before us though and in particular that opening stanza which sets the scene so well.
