In Your Rightful Place

In Your Rightful Place

A Chapter by Dr. YumnaKay
"

Ramblings of a raging mind. A feminist write.

"
You think that perhaps, a word or stare,
or a dirty phrase hurled down the hem of a skirt,
can keep a woman caged and scared.

Perhaps you think too, that the only place
which suits a woman is near a musty stove,
that she should walk just along your pace.

I woe such men on their high horse,
galloping around with no remorse ...

a woman's rightful place is right beside a man...on equal footing...neither one on a high horse.
When will this really happen?
It has taken too long, and still we are so far behind.
the rhyme scheme works really well here.
i cheered when reading this.

Think how much farther ahead men would be if some of them spent more time on self-empowerment than on civilizing the unwashed women in their circles. It’s a form of domestic colonization, a political act in one’s own home sometimes.

No remorse, indeed.

Well stated, Yumna!

Btw, it’s Deb - can’t remember my previous username here, but I’m back. :):)

Thanks, dear, and you are welcome!!!
I am sure there are still men like that in this world, but fortunately I don't know any of them. We have come a long way, but it is obvious we have not come far enough. Well written. Very empowering. Lydi**

An empowering write Dr Y. Our place is on an equal footing with men. Sadly there are still many old dinosaurs who haven't cottoned on to that yet. It's a struggle but we will get there one day.

Yes! I am all for this empowerment. A women is fierce and she commands respects as gracefully as she commands a room. A woman will bloom past the point of circumstance and grow into her own. I felt this. Similar to Jacob, I applauded this. Standing ovation. Great read.

Amazing poem, very impowering and meaningful, as a woman of course i loved this poem. No woman should be made to feel like her place is in the kitchen, ir that shes a slave of some sort. Im over lables. The world needs to stop looking at things as for a certain sex, when really everything is made for just people and we should all do what we love, as a man or woman. Fantasticly written.

:) ur very mucg welcome. Im enjoying writing again
What a powerfully voiced raging, rambling canvas of words. It seems to me that in some romantic poetry women are nearly worshiped, and yet on the streets, in the real world, there is still so much suppression, so much aggression. Why should only half the population have dreams, have longings for a life? And why in this world can there not be room for everyone to seek the stars.. and be encouraged on their journeys? We still seem so horribly far away...

I think so too. A vast difference between how females are treated in dreams and in reality...

I wish I had a horse... Or a high ground to throw it off of...
Is that how high horses work?
Hah...

Feelsbad for the subject of said animosity...

Or am I, being a man...

Uh-oh...
I think I will take that horse now...
A quick getaway might be required...
