Bound

Bound

A Chapter by Dr. YumnaKay
"

Ramblings.

"
The truth is that we're pathetically, helplessly bound to life in certain ways; ways beyond our control and beyond being altered.

There's nothing more helpless than watching a loved one on the brink of losing it all, nothing more helpless than trying to make them keep themselves together while you yourself have no clue on how to proceed with life. And nothing more helpless than watching them sink in and out of their depressive phases with your hand just inches away from them while they refuse to be taken in.

Do we really own our lives? This one, devastatingly beautiful thing given to us? Is it so easy, to give it away just like that? I do not know, but I do know this for sure:
Our life is not completely our own when we have our loved ones in it.

Never a truer word said Dr Y. We can not cut ourselves off from what is going on around us. At times it will be painful, it can drive us to despair, but that is part of living. If we cut ourselves off from everyone because we are fearful of the negative side of life, there will be no balance. We will not be whole. I can empathise with your feelings here, because there have been times when my relatives have virtually driven me to the brink with their lousy decision making.

speaking as one of whom has walked this tightrope for many years... I forever believed that one cannot out think neurochemistry upon having battled the wretched for so long, I had truly given up. I was wrong!!!! The psychotropic cocktails i endeared rarely gave very long therapeutic windows for me to glimpse "the normal" owing to my rapid cycling and the brain damage (M.B.D.) I endured as an small child. This may sound crazy but it was thru writing, art and music that I began to change the waves of my mind. I'm not saying I'm cured it is a constant battle but my sword gets sharper at each victory!! You I speak from experience in this realm... are this persons rock and his beacon whatever spectacles he may be wearing at the time your fortitude will be his absolute. The key is to pull back the response sensitivity when the darkness engulfs and take the hands of others to strengthen yourself and give authenticity to your feelings outside of your relation when he cant.... My heart goes out to you in embrace Dear Yumna

Nah, it does not sound crazy at all, BB! I think writing and the creative stuff really are cathartic.. read more
The world is a harsh mistress... when you care the frustrations mount, then comes the anger; then the unreasoning reactions to "nothings", then the deepening pains and a deeper caring and the cycling continues... 'til the tears are all that's left.

Some people seem to have the cards stacked against them, some have silver spoons in their mouths and some court their own disasters. In today's lonley, demanding world with it's instant gratification, dispoisable everything, there are many more shades. So many people live on the edge but wear a mask to hide it from others. As individuals we all cope differently and react differently to different stressors. But to watch a friend or loved one descend into the pit is a hard thing to do. So great question!
