It's not about winning or losing. It's about keeping a straight head and knowing that no matter what happens ---
In the end - you'll have fought through all the mess.
In the end - all that matters is that you got a clear way forward.
But maybe we like being in the dark. Sudden light can be too blinding. So much so, that it shuns your belief that through that light you get to reach that much sought for destiny.
Or maybe it isn't really about the destiny either.
In the end - all that matters is what you learned on the way until you reach home. ..
Life is about entering into the fray, experiencing, living, learning, and coming away tougher, wiser, more understanding of self and others … all before true happiness, the ability to receive gracefully and graciously, and before peace of heart and mind are possible to accept and enjoy, all to their fullest.

Love this!!! Not to get all spiritual or religious or whatever...but that's kinda my take on after death is that you fought so hard and learned so much and built up your soul with so much wisdom and lessons, that you can't just disappear.
In the end - all that matters is what you learned on the way until you reach home. .. LOVE!!!!
That's my take too, good to have you on the same wavelength then ;) :)

The sudden light reference here reminded me of a prisoner in solitary confinement where the only source of light is a single dim red bulb.
Prisoners survive one day at a time - heck, one hour at a time in some prisons and they keep their minds by scoring little victories against their goalers and the regime until their day of freedom.
One day at a time...
Thanks for sharing this deeply introspective piece my friend.
