Escape From Reality

Escape From Reality

A Chapter by Dr. YumnaKay
"

If we could only have oblivion...

"
Skipping stones,
running along,
this shadowy path
leading me on.

Away from my present,
wanting to escape reality,
I can go any lengths
to forget ... who I really am.

At this time of life,
I would gladly accept
Amnesia ...

it would help me become
the person
everyone wants to see.

For many a times,
I have done what pleases me.
(Actually nearly always)

Seldom caring,
for the people around me.
(My parents, my friends, my family)

Yes, they are disappointed, I know.
I can see the concern
in their very eyes.

Dripping shame covering my eyes;
I turn my back,
and gladly welcome this oblivion ...

which will help me be
the person
they want me to be ...

Escaping from reality... is all we ever want to do...
Makes us feel...alive...not trapped within the bars of having to be and do what they expect of us.

This is a great write. From experience, it would not be easy to word. So well done and thank you for sharing this

People always want to escape the reality, but we cannot. We can go inside our heart and contemplate to find peace. The true existence comes from within.

The feeling of disconnect at times, of wanting to be free of 'the ties that bind' can be overwhelming at times.
It can make us appear aloof, uncaring, heartless even and can conjure in us a feeling of guilt that we are not like most of our kith and kin who love living in one anothers pockets YumnaKay.
It makes life difficult because we start to wonder if we are 'weird' and can even lead to mentall illness - the mind in a constant state of flux.
Its not as rare as you might think.

You did a great job here. I feel this was hard to put down on paper - emotionally hard. So well done.
I can relate.

I think many of us would pick amnesia if it were as easy as ticking a box on a form. We try to please so many, but when we aren't being ourselves, it makes the task all the harder. Beautifully captured.

These lines went the distance to solidify this writing for me. A wonderfully honest piece of poetry, it is something that we can all relate to in some fashion. The anxiety that comes with the validation of others, or lack thereof, before the validation of ourselves.

Easier said than done, but I hope you find that inner peace, in time. :)

This was a fine write, and I'm glad I stumbled upon it. Keep it up!

Sure feel free :)
Quite often we go through life pleasing others at the expense of our own wishes. As we age we discover that they will love us no matter what and we become our own person. Good write, YK

i feel this way a lot of the time i don't know what you are personally going through but it is impossible for me to same can be said for any other person i connected to this in my own way because on almost every occasion when i interact with others i automatically cast my personality away my wants desires my feelings which honestly i don't even remember if i had any to begin with. just driven by how others felt about me always seeking external validation and never accepting myself or think i am enough as person as i am but honestly i don't know what as i am is anymore i connected deeply to this it may have not been what it is about but it still touched me all the same i felt connected to you in that moment it was really beautiful thank you for sharing i hope your struggles get a little lighter someday. great write
