Escape From Reality

Escape From Reality

A Chapter by Dr. YumnaKay
"

If we could only have oblivion...

"
Skipping stones,
running along,
this shadowy path
leading me on.

Away from my present,
wanting to escape reality,
I can go any lengths
to forget ... who I really am.

At this time of life,
I would gladly accept
Amnesia ...

it would help me become
the person
everyone wants to see.

For many a times,
I have done what pleases me.
(Actually nearly always)

Seldom caring,
for the people around me.
(My parents, my friends, my family)

Yes, they are disappointed, I know.
I can see the concern
in their very eyes.

Dripping shame covering my eyes;
I turn my back,
and gladly welcome this oblivion ...

which will help me be
the person
they want me to be ...
Thank you, yet again J Todd Underhill for reading this out on your podcast! https://soundcloud.com/user-557255780/coffee-with-underhill-02-13-2017

Escaping from reality... is all we ever want to do...
Makes us feel...alive...not trapped within the bars of having to be and do what they expect of us.

This is a great write. From experience, it would not be easy to word. So well done and thank you for sharing this

Your message seems to suggest that escaping from reality is forbidden or possibly ill-advised. I used to feel guilty when I wanted oblivion, but lately I've been doing a wide variety of spiritual study & many different viewpoints encourage letting go of this "reality" that we seem to think we shouldn't let go of. To live according to some pre-defined role is something many spiritual practices teach us to STOP DOING! So I'm reading this poem & seeing it from both sides -- wanting escape as if forbidden & working to escape from my pre-conceived notions of who I am & what I'm here for! Sorry for rattling on, but the best writing provokes many ideas! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I understand this feeling... reading this made me remember the emotions of such times...
If it was the point of this write to gain those emotions from the reader, You definitely reached a goal on it.

Is self delusion a good thing? May make yoy forget your troubles but do your troubles go away?

Thank you for reading this older write of mine and for appreciating, Julie :)
Oh my gosh! The more I read this type of poetry, the more I wonder "why even stop?"
this is so good and I can't tell you how many times I've written poetry on reality. I know you told me not to review but friends don't always listen (heads up)

Φυσικά! Of course!
Our parents really are something and wish we would do everything the way they picture it in their heads. What can we really do if it is not for their nudging and pleading? It is because of that, that we do the total opposite and strive by our selves

Hmm well, if only it were that easy..
Thank you, Gullia, for adding your thoughts here ☺
I love this poem. I escape from reality through various mediums and sometimes I wish I could stay there and I can relate to this poem to a startling degree. I loved your use of the word Oblivion, it's scary yet so comforting.

This is a great poem that is fairly insightful i regards to the human mind.

Damn, I wish I could steal this concept away from you! ;P

Good job, Kay! :)

If our minds can create fantasy and make it into reality. Then maybe we dont have to deny ourselves in escaping the abyss of reality.
