Milk & Cookies

A Poem by shiloh jennings

soft, black velvet

covering the world

from my eyes up.

Never glancing

light receding

oh my ghawd

none of it makes sense

so why should this?

Maybe soon I'll get the yellow toaster

Baby bonuses on the seventeenth

make me some flowers for my

rock garden and

maybe I'll play your favourite

soap operas

on my drum kit

and we can take it to the

county fair with us

tomorrow

or maybe we'll just go back to kindergarten.

Mmm, I like how this starts seriously, but the tone shifts after the lines "none of this makes sense/so why should this?" The childlike air through the rest of the poem is interesting to read and to reflect on, and the images you pick (though I suspect they have some greater meaning to you personally) work very well and are quite clear. Well done!
