Long Gone

Long Gone

A Poem by Yasmin A.

Every time someone knocks on the door,
I rush to open it,
Thinking it's you on the other side of the door.

Every time someone calls my phone,
I rush to answer it,
Thinking it's you on the line.

Every time I get a letter in the mail,
I rush to read it,
Thinking it's you who wrote it.

Every time someone tugs at my hair,
I turn around quickly,
Thinking it's you teasing me.

Yet I realise that it's impossible,
You knocking on the door, calling me,
Writing me letters, teasing me.

Impossible,
Because you've been gone.
Long gone.
