Colours

Colours

A Poem by Yasmin A.

Black was the colour
Of the ink you used to write me notes,
Of the shoes we had to wear in school,
Of the hair I used to mess up almost daily.

Blue was the colour
Of the ink I used to reply your notes,
Of the drink you spilled on me,
Of the pencilcase you claimed was yours.

Purple was the colour
Of the flower you picked for me,
Of the shoelaces I wore to school,
Of the pendent you bought me.

Yellow was the colour
Of the shoelaces you wore to school,
Of the highlighter we bought together,
Of the sun that shone when I was with you.
