9. Building the Sanctuary

9. Building the Sanctuary

A Chapter by Sir Drift & Mr. Pulse

Wake up why are you sleeping?

Can’t you see that I am outside with tools in my hands?

I’m building a home that crosses sea and land

I’ve given up on tales and fables

I’m dead no more, alive as ever

For only you are reality instead of never

Let’s pin these ideas of yours and mine

Build a castle that reaches the sky

Impossibility is just a lie

I don’t fear the future, I don’t fear death

I only fear failure of destroying our life

My intentions are not to disappoint my wife

So let’s swim in the Sun plant flowers on its sand

Capture the Moon and watch it bloom

Our world we can build between morning and noon

But save the night to admire our work

Stare at the mirrors in the sky

Let our creations show with pride

As our dreams and hearts collide

I love this on so many levels. I like that it's a spiritual message delivered in a way that can be consumed by any kind of person, regardless of faith. I love that this collaboration of building a sanctuary could be between the narrator & God, or the narrator & a beloved, or between two friends. The second-to-last stanza really shines as an awesome & inspiring invitation to really live. I always enjoy a poet with a clear point to make.

"As our dreams and hearts collide"
Nice, dreamy piece. I think this is going to be one of my favourites by you. Love the sincerity that brims here and the love in it.
'stare at the mirrors in the sky' ... maybe they'd reflect our faces too...
Lovely piece and the illustration too is nice :-)
