The Brave Knight

The Brave Knight

A Chapter by Sir Drift & Mr. Pulse
"

A tale of a knight and a Leviathan

"

Sir Curtis was a brave Knight of a million Tales

Who has fought many monsters and always prevailed

But in this tale of the knight we cheer

He will face a monster that is much more feared

The brave knight has returned from very far

With Ares and Apollo, his best friends they are

He speedily ran to the Queen at the throne

To tell her of stories since gone from his home

The guards quickly told the Queen of his return

And in her heart a fire did burn

With passion and love the Maiden rushed through

To welcome the only son that she knew

But there interrupted a peasant from town

Who shouted of a monster, a great beast to astound

The knight smiled and said to the man

"Do not fear friend, do you not know who I am?"

The man stopped to catch his breath and speak

"Yes Sir Curtis, you are the knight that I seek."

"There is a monster in the Ocean who has threatened the land,

And I knew he would be dealt with by your hand."

The Queen looked over at the knight on top Ares, his horse

"Oh Curtis my boy, you have returned of such force,

I wish you would stay just a while to feast

Don't worry about this one little beast."

Sir Curtis glanced over to the mother in worry

He said, "it wont take long mother, I will hurry."

The man then kept speaking of a great dragon of the sea

The beast was like no other he has seen

The knight then asked his mother for new gear

Worn and torn were his for many years

His mother then sad made an armor from her tears

She said "It is made of love to fight off any fear."

Sir Curtis grateful then went off to grab a sword

Of Gold and Onyx the weapon was forged

Farewell to his mother the Queen of the land

And took a special necklace she placed in his hand

He pounded his chest with a horse as a crest

His name in sapphire his armor was blessed

To a distant place called Ulysses they rode

The Knight galloped onward, brave and bold

There were men behind to escort him there

A shore of beauty, excitement in the air

Jumped off his horse and to the Ocean he dove

Waved good bye to Apollo and Ares on the cove

As the knight went deeper his armor began to shine

To see many fish and things that looked like vines

Until there stood a castle, a shimmering, glittering prize

He could not believe the sight of his eyes

He explored this wondrous watery empire

A palace of white with torches of blue fire
While off in the distance old Leviathan stalked
With eyes glowed a fire as he steadily docked

Awaiting for the Knight to creep closer in

The great beast slowly swam behind him

The knight in amaze did not know of what neared

The dragon of sea who slowly towards him steered

Suddenly a sound that echoed his ear

Swish, swash, he turned to listen clear

The Leviathan then swooped around to appear

As the knight pivots, but the beast struck no fear.

It was the necklace indeed keeping a steady heart

The beast angry, knew this knight was smart

A fog then smeared to disappear in the dark

And there stood the knight holding his blade in an arc

The fog disappeared to reveal an empty space
A throne that held no one in its place
Sir Curtis looked still at the giant golden chair
and shouted very loudly "I will be its heir"
A great sound came from behind in a dark room
And there was The Leviathan with a big wound
Sir Curtis went close trying to be very quite
And as the Leviathan turned, he did not riot
He cried out to the knight, "I'm so lonely here"
The Knight then replied "There is nothing to fear"
"I attacked you because I thought you came to fight
and being very honest I'm not feeling well tonight."
The knight confused, let his sword to the floor
And from behind him, closed slowly the door
"You can talk to me great beast, I have seen many things
I wish to help the feelings you have within."
The Leviathan stood, 100 feet tall
And then led the knight to a painting on a wall
"These are my friends as you can see."
He pointed at the wall, they were familiar to thee
A dog and a horse that were painted on the brick
The knight knew them, he would of not think
that his friends were too the friends of the beast
He shouts "I know them, they live in the East."
The Leviathan jumps of so much joy
"I cant believe that such a little boy
know my favorite friends in the whole wide world."
The Leviathan grinned and then he swirled
And just with that they fled for the land
to reveal to all who he carried by hand
The giant sea beast whom they all came to fear
Was a lot more friendly, nice and dear.
The Queen came in shock to the return of her son
She shouts from the stairs, "My boy have you won?"
Curtis laughs "There was no battle to fight."
Apollo, Ares and Leviathan reunited that night
As the Queen whispered "I am proud of you my Knight."

Collaborations can be difficult but you both pulled it off and it's well crafted in it's entirety. Outside the box material and a most enjoyable read. Nice work!

That's a true statement. I agree with that. The outcome is never predictable.
I really enjoyed this read, I didn't expect to come here and read collaborative writings with children. Super! A knights tale with great imagination and a moral. Again, super story.
