Chapter One

Chapter One

A Chapter by Master Gargoyle

Yoshiko sat at Lake Verity, awaiting Professor Rowan.  Her mother, Tanya Murasaki, had told her that Rowan called and wanted Yoshiko to help with his fieldwork.  Mrs. Murasaki agreed.  She said her daughter would do anything for her old collegue.  Yoshiko was going to meet Rowan at his lab, but he didn't like that idea, since she didn't have any Pokemon.  So they agreed to meet at the lake.

Yoshiko was secretly happy that she was going to travel all around Sinnoh.  She acted grumpy when her mom first told her, but now she was trying not to explode with excitement.  In truth, the reason for her bad attitude was her bad dreams.  She started to get them ever since her mom told her what happened to her dad. Yoshiko was born in Twinleaf Town, and then her father left them when she was eight.  He had this idea about making a new universe, and spirit was useless and incomplete.  Her mom told him that was stupid, and that he had a daughter, a life.  He said his life and his daughter's life was destroyed because of how incomplete spirit is, and he left them.

Yoshiko's Pokegear rang, bringing her out of her thoughts.  She sighed and opened her phone.  "Hello?"

"Hey hey!  Yoshi-Chan!!!  It's Ryan!  Where are you?  Come over here!  I'll play you in Mario Kart!"

"Sorry, Ryan.  I'm at the lake.  Waiting for Professor Rowan."

"Uh...Why?"

"I'm gonna do fieldwork for him.  In other words, I'm gonna be a trainer."

"Ah, lucky!  Hey, I'm coming too!  Lake Verity, right?  Of course!  What am I thinking?!  Be right there!"

Ryan hung up.

Yoshiko laughed.  She put her Pokegear back in her pocket.

A few seconds later, Ryan showed up.  "Hey Yoshi-Chan!"  He sat down by her.  "So, when's the professor dude gonna get here?!"

"Right now."

Yoshiko and Ryan turned around to see a tall man with white hair.  He was large.  Not fat.  He was somewhat muscualr.  He seemed to be in his fifties.

Yoshiko stood up.  "Uhm...Hi, Professor Rowan.  I'm Yoshiko Murasaki.  This is my friend, Ryan Anderson."

Ryan bounced up.  "Yup!  I'm Ryan!!!  Uhm...Can I help you with your fieldwork too?  C'mon, please?!  I'll do a lot of work for ya', if ya' just let me!!!  C'mon, man!  Ple-"

"All right!  All right!"  Rowan shouted.  "I was going to ask you regardless.  Anyways,"  He pulled out two Pokedexes.  "Here you two go."  he said, handing them to the kids.

Ryan gazed at it.  "Woah!  So cool!"

Yoshiko smiled, and put it in her backpack.

Rowan smiled.  "Normally, I'd give you two your own Pokemon.  But I've decided to let my fieldworkers catch their own Pokemon from now on."  He handed them a Pokeball each.

Ryan jumped up and down.  "This is so AWESOME!!!"

Yoshiko smiled.

Ryan looked at Rowan.  "Can I catch a Pokemon now?!"

Rowan nodded.  "I'll leave it to you two.  If you need anything, please come to my lab in Sandgem Town.  Oh, and Ryan-"

"Don't worry!  I asked my mom if I could help with your fieldwork."

A Starly flew at Ryan, knocking him down.  "Koudodustarlee!!!"

"Owowow!!!"  Ryan said, standing back up.  "She's agrresive.  Now he's mine!"

Yoshiko stared at the Starly.  What does she mean, we're in her territory...?

Ryan tossed a Pokeball at the Starly.  It caught the Starly, and it began to struggle to get out.  The Pokeball clicked.

Ryan got very excited.  "I-I did it!!!  I caught a Pokemon!!!  My FIRST Pokemon!!!"

Rowan laughed.  "Congragulations, Ryan.  You have your first Pokemon."

Ryan laughed.  "Awesome!  It's your turn, Yoshi!"

Rowan nodded.  "Come with me to my lab, Ryan.  Let's leave Yoshiko to catch her Pokemon on her own."

Yoshiko sighed.  "Why on my own?"

"I need to show Ryan something.  And there's a boy in Sandgem Town I need to give a Pokedex to as well.  Come on, Ryan."

Ryan smiled.  "Well, I'll be seein' ya, Yoshiko!"

Yoshiko nodded.  "Yeah.  See ya'."
