Impulses

Impulses

A Poem by Aly Sky

Who knew it would shatter into so many pieces when broken?
Each fragment was dispersed to an edge " the farthest edges of my soul.
As I speak the shards are still holding on, aghast at the actions that caused such pain performed by someone that holds my complete trust.
You hold my complete trust.
You promised me the world with your promising eyes, and I showed you the way; I let you in.
I let you become close because of your promising eyes.
Overlooking my affliction, I remember your promising eyes.
I remember why I’m still here; I remember how you brought me here.
You had been searching for me all your life, and you thanked God you finally found me.
You said I’m as precious as a pearl; you hold me on a pedestal in your heart.
I just summoned an epiphany.
Your absence and the distance between us challenge our efforts.
It is difficult to balance patience and passion; I’ve been selfishly acting on impulses.
I am my own worst enemy.

I'm trying my hand at repetition. Do you think it's redundant?
