Insane Illness

Insane Illness

A Poem by Aly Sky

Such an illness like this should be banished to hell

Feeling joy at one point in time

Then angry at everything that crosses my path

I hate the intense feelings racing through my mind

In such a way as though it suffocates

Suffocating; intensifying dangerous thoughts

Extremely difficult to cope with all the missunderstanding people in my life

Many questions asked, but never answered as shame falls upon me

Too many ways to name what I have

Manic Depression; Severe Bipolar; etcetera

As I await hope to come forth and overjoy me

I will suffer in this tragedy

Such a damned illness

And I'm able to call it mine

Live and let it be what it does, but don't let it devour your sanity

Bi polar is just the extremes of normality. Hard to cope with I know only too well but poetry is the best therapy I have come across over the years.
At least when you write it out in black and white it becomes something you can actually see and somehow that makes it easier to deal with. Theres is no shame in suffering from any mental disorder
I enjoyed you spill of feelings even though you write free form. I find the discipline of fixed forms concentrates my mind to the extent I can forget how down I feel ivor

This is the best way I have ever heard this disease described this way. Thank you.

Powerful and intense writing!

Truth, you realistic approach, and your amazing strength will defeat theses issues.

The first stanza strikes me hard. Being happy one moment and sad the next, I hate that feeling and you captured it well. It was difficult to read because it also relates to me but nevertheless i enjoyed it and the message you were trying to get across.

A tumbling weed on the plains, whipped around by the wind, cast here and there, rarely feeling at peace. I am the same though can usually control mine through regular sleep. There is not shame here, just an expression of reality. I enjoyed your honesty and lack of fear of what others may say. It's very refreshing! :)

Well, You've proven that you're really 100% honest on what you've just written there. Hate to say this, but there are much more to that. At least, there's always a hope to overcome the illness in many ways...

Anyway, it's a real nice (yet, disturbing) piece you got there, so it's all still good tho...
