Stand and BelieveA Poem by Aly SkyI, America, am beginning to shatter But my people make the dreadful suggestion, "Does it really matter?" Yes, it should matter; this is the land of the free And then I ask myself how could that be In a time where we can't even live without fear All because of one frightful day that wasn't so mere Two planes crashed into the World Trade Center And from then on everything went cold like the winter Now none of us can even decide If gas is in the budget; don't lose your pride These days in '07 it's so hard to make a living And very few people are out there still giving Always remember that the little things give you away But trust me, that's not all I have to say In '05 Miss Katrina ruined a day And the people "up there" didn't even pay Pay for the damage that shouldn't have been done And now you walk away thinking you've won There's time when you need to realize That most people are hidden; in disguise Just like you said on the news That is the way I choose I want you to remind yourself day after day All these words and what I'm about to say
