Speak

Speak

A Poem by TheActOfRandomness(:
"

Right after I finished Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, I wrote it. Its Melinda's POV.

"

I am outcast

That nobody sees

If I would tell them

Nobody would believe

So I keep slient

I will never speak

Like tape over my mouth

I am the weak

Everything in the summer

Changed so quickly

Who used to be friends

Are now enemies

I am half dead

I am the tree

Like a scared little rabbit

When IT sees me

I wanna run

But I can't get free

They come around

And learn my story

I'm trying to get strong

And thats the key

Summer's coming

The birds sing

I put my trust in you

I am ready to speak.

I've read this book too, and I think you did a wonderful job of taking Melinda's point of view and transforming it into this wonderful piece! Well done!

I've never read the book, but if it inspires poems such as this, I should. ;D

Anyway, I feel that I could really connect to certain parts of this poem... Well, I guess most people can at one point or another. xD
