Forever Link

A Poem by Ashley Marie Montgomery
"

Just read and find out(:

"

The little girl runs to her mother,

"Mommy...Where's daddy?

I don't know what I did to make him hate me but can you please tell him,

I don't want anything for Christmas,

I don't want anything for my birthday,

All I want is him,

He will do,"

Mother says "Hunny I cant call your daddy tonight."

The little girl says "but why? You call him every night. I know you do. I hear you in there talking about me to him and how much you wish he could come see me and how were all going to meet one day. Why cant we meet now? I've been a good girl.. just please mommy call him. Please."

As the mother sits there she try's to hold back tears but answers her daughter,

"Yes hunny, I do talk to daddy every night but we cant call him right now because his phone service isn't working. Maybe someday soon."

Little girl get a big smile on her face,

"Yess! Daddy loves me and actually wants to talk to me but where's this place he's at that he don't get good service?

Tears fall from the mothers face as she says

"Heaven. Hunny. Your daddy is in heaven right now. He wont be back for a while but someday we will all be together."

Girl runs to her mother,

Hugs her,

kisses her on the cheek,

"Your the best mom in the world. Look what I got mommy. I drew a picture."

As the mother looks down at the picture,

She sees that her daughter drew,

A mom,

Dad,

And daughter,

The title was,

Until we meet,

Then under that said "I love my daddy, even though I don't know him, I love him and he is my soldier, my hero, my everything."

The girl ran from the room,

In her cute little tutu dress and started singing,

The mother sat there,

Looking at the picture,

Crying,

As she was crying,

She looked out side her window and said,

"See your not only the soldier to are whole country but your a soldier to your daughter. Till we see you. I love you and miss you."

Tears ran down her face,

Till she looked in the living room to see her daughter dancing and singing,

The women let out a sigh and said,

"Even though your miles away at least I have her. Are forever link."

One of the hardest professions in the world is the be those who stay behind when loved one's are away doing what they need to do. A wonderful piece that really speaks to the postive hearts of military families. Strong people that can get through most anything.

Thanks for sharing a really good piece of prose!
