The Killer

The Killer

A Poem by None

I know he wants to kill me,

I’ve seen that smile before,

Those arms that want to break me,

And leave me bleeding on the floor.

His eyes they stare right through me,

Unblinking in the light,

Those eyes, they wont release me,

Yet I feel no fright.

He stays there in the corner,

Where he sat to rest,

That smile is set upon his face,

An invitation, not a test.

I press his steel upon my wrists,

Red bracelets to match his,

There is no pain, no fear, no more,

In the end there’s only this.

So we’re smiling, always smiling,

Glassy eyes that see no more,

Surrounded by our own release,

Red rivers stain the floor.

This poem is excellent. I usually hate reviewing poetry as the words are often so vague and full of hidden meaning. This is direct and makes an impact. And, I do appreciate a modern poet who can write with metre and rhyme. My only criticism, the lines:
>>Those eyes, they wont release me,
>>Yet I feel no fright.

'wont' should have an apostrophe -- won't
A personal opinion, I would have added 'And' to the second line to give it another syllable and make it balance the other stanzas.

And yet I feel no fright.

Other than that, (me being picky) I think this is a wonderful piece of writing. Thanks for giving the opportunity to read and review.

Grace under pressure and classically tragic.

Very dark, Knowing he wants to kill you, On top of all the damage he wants to do to you and you have no fear. Red rivers stain the floor. Says it all. I've read plenty of poem of abuse on the cafe, This write brings it home. To stare it in the face, acknowledge it, yet do nothing but accept it without fear. So powerful. Excellent write.

I had the whole scene in my head when I read this poem. It's creepy but I'm not afraid just like the hero of the story. The ending is so touching somehow. I can't describe it really, I just adored it.

Wow. Intense poem. The mix between madness, death and love is superb ! I particularly liked the images in the last verse .
