"Dear Future Self" Series II: Reality Pains

A Poem by Lola
"

Dear Future Self, Believe in yourself. Live in your dreams and never wake up.

"
Dear future self,
Nothing will warn you of what'll happen to you. With all of the palm readers, star crossers and mind bogglers the world has to offer, nothing can truly lead someone to determine the kind and size of rock that'll hit you.

Dear future self,
Be careful of the rock. It'll disturb your sleep, and it may hit your head, or your heart.

Dear future self,
The scar will hurt. Gushing, forgotten, diamonds, forgiveness, selfishness, oblivion. Everything except blood.

Dear future self,
Don't be afraid to listen to yourself. Trust your instincts. The clouds obey the rain when it believes its time, and when the clouds rebel, the whole sky turns into an orchestra.

Dear future self,
Don't be afraid of your capabilities. You're much more than you think.

Dear future self,
When reality hits, make sure it doesn't leave a scar that gushes substance and stillness. Trust me, you won't want to be real.

Dear future self,
Stay out of place, and never wake up. Live in your darkest dreams and fantasies because thats where you'll be able to hide from the cycle of customs.

Dear future self,
Don't be the same. Say no to marriage and gowns. Say no to conformity and routine. Say no to settling and deep breaths. Say no to dull stares and acting like you care. Say no to gossip and small minded people. Fight the internal screams and the superficial smiles.

Dear future self,
Sleep where they cannot wake you up, and when they do, do not conform to the rules and make them sing along to your own anthem. A nation of freedom and acceptance. Free from doubt and unlawful truths.

Dear future self,
Don't ask yourself where you will go when your dreams aren't valid anymore. You're dreams are always valid even when the world splashes you with waterfalls to wake you up.

Dear future self,
Wake up to the scars of the survivors. Their etches don't heal because thats their mark of never waking up and never losing their self worth that the hurdle of rocks of all shapes and sizes that replaced the waterfall, set stage along their pristine body.

Dear future self,
Please take the rock, and smash it against the wall with your dreams and fears. Reality cannot fathom the world inside you. Keep it for yourself, and whoever has faith in your little realm of gods and monsters.

Dear future self,
Most of all, believe in yourself.
