Footprints

Footprints

A Poem by potato

The salty air

Coming from the sea

On this late

Autumn night

As I walk

Along the

Sea shore.

The shimmer

Of the sea

Reflecting the

Stars of the

Night sky.

I see

The footprints

Left in the

Sand.

But wait

What is that?

There are two

Two sets of

Footprints.

The one who

Walks behind me

Is only

A shadow

A shadow of

My former self.

A shadow of

What used to be.

A shadow of

What could

Have been.

They say

Change is good

But, my friend

Sometimes

It leaves you

A shell

Of your

Former self.

The light

Burnt out

And Gone

Forever.

So

As I watch

The second

Set of

Footprints

Form in the sand

I think

Would it be so bad

So bad to leave

Leave and never

Come back?

Would it be

Too bad

If I took

This knife

On this

Cool Autumn

Night.

And leave

Leave this

Life.

Leave,

Forever.
