It’s a Friday* afternoon. *Remember that the occult club meets on Wednesdays and Fridays (refer to episode 23, line 42). After school, Přemysl makes his way over to the occult club room for a club meeting, only to find the room completely empty. He glances around it in confusion. Theo enters the room, his eyes bulging in shock from only spotting Přemysl. He speaks in a curious manner. Theo Line 1) Orlin… where is everyone? Přemysl shrugs puzzlingly. Přemysl Line 2) I’m just as confused as you are. Theo gets hit with a wave of realization. He speaks in a relaxed tone. Theo Line 3) Ah. It must be the New Year football game event*. *The school is hosting a huge football game event as a celebration of the New Year. Přemysl nods his head, remembering the event being announced on the school’s PA system (announcement speakers). Přemysl speaks agreeably, his voice switching into a tone of curiosity. Přemysl Line 4) Yeah, you’re right. On that note, why aren’t you attending? Theo explains himself. Theo Line 5) I’m not “school spirity”. Football games are just not my thing. Theo speaks in a manner of surprise. Theo Line 6) I didn’t think the rest of our club members were into that stuff, but what else would explain their absence from today’s meeting? Theo speaks in a tone of delight. Theo Line 7) Good for them. If they like that kind of stuff, I don’t want to hold them back. As much as club meetings are important, it’s always optional to attend. Plus, today's a Friday, so I don't blame them. Theo speaks suggestively. Theo Line 8) You can head home if you’d like to. Want me to drop you off? Přemysl questions Theo curiously. Přemysl Line 9) Hold on a minute. Didn’t you have plans for the club today? Theo answers in a lenient manner. Theo Line 10) Yeah, but we could always do them another time. There’s no rush. Přemysl responds in a tone of dejection. Přemysl Line 11) Well, I don’t have anything else left to do now. Theo thinks to himself, sympathizing with Přemysl. His eyebrows furrow upsettingly. Line 12) Theo’s inner thoughts: He most likely doesn’t want to go home since he’ll be alone. Line 13) Theo’s inner thoughts: In that case, I should provide him with company. It’s not like I have anything planned, either. Theo speaks encouragingly. Theo Line 14) Me neither. So, do you want to hang out? Přemysl glances at Theo in surprise. He thinks to himself, contemplating Theo’s suggestion. Line 15) Přemysl’s inner thoughts: Theo and I haven’t hung out with each other ever since New Year’s, being so caught up with school and whatnot. Přemysl glances at Theo suspiciously. Line 16) Přemysl’s inner thoughts: Why do I feel like he'll ask me about what I wanted to share with him*? *Remember that when Přemysl and Theo were celebrating New Year’s, during their conversation, Přemysl became emotional, wanting to fess up about his true identity to Theo (refer back to episode 45, lines 87"111, etc). Theo approaches Přemysl, putting his arm over his shoulder in a friendly manner. He speaks enthusiastically. Theo Line 17) I’ll take your silence as a yes. Přemysl speaks in a manner of objection. Přemysl Line 18) But I didn’t even say" Theo shushes Přemysl. Přemysl freezes in his stance, glancing at Theo in irritation. Theo elaborates playfully. Theo Line 19) Too bad. You didn’t answer quickly enough. Theo speaks analytically, trying to convince Přemysl that they should hang out. Theo Line 20) It’s been 2 weeks since we’ve hung out. That’s half a month. Don’t you think it’s about time we do something together? Přemysl sassily removes Theo’s finger from his lip, speaking indifferently. Přemysl Line 21) Fine. But you’re driving. Theo speaks in a tone of excitement, relieved that Přemysl agreed for them to hang out. Theo Line 22) You betcha! You should really start practicing… Přemysl and Theo make their way over to Theo’s car, parked in the student parking lot of their school. The both of them get in, with Theo driving them to a park. When they arrive and exit the car, Přemysl looks around the area Theo drove them to in confusion. He speaks in a puzzling manner. Přemysl Line 23) A park? But why? Theo explains himself alluringly. Theo Line 24) I was trying to think of something that rhymes with talk, and walk came to mind, so I thought the best place we could walk together would be a park. Přemysl speaks in a skeptical tone as they start walking in the cold weather, wearing their warm coats. Přemysl Line 25) Why do you want to talk to me? Theo speaks reassuringly. Theo Line 26) I know what you may be thinking, but I don’t have any ulterior motives up my sleeve. I simply just want to talk with you. Přemysl speaks in a tone of curiosity. Přemysl Line 27) About what, though? And why outside where it's cold? Theo explains himself. Theo Line 28) Sure, the weather isn’t the most preferable. January is, after all, the coldest month in Michigan, but we can’t always blame the weather, now can we? Theo speaks happily, smiling at Přemysl cheerfully. Theo Line 29) How have you been, Orlin? How’s the New Year treating you? Přemysl responds dryly. Přemysl Line 30) Fine. I guess… Theo questions Přemysl in concern. Theo Line 31) You seem more glum than usual. Is everything okay? Přemysl speaks in a sad manner. Přemysl Line 32) I’ve just been in a weird space lately. A gray area in life, if you will. Přemysl’s eyebrows furrow in distress. Přemysl Line 33) Things just haven’t been ideal, leading me to feel dull and numb. Přemysl Line 34) I’m dissociating more than usual, feeling heavily disoriented, blah blah blah. Přemysl speaks in a tone of frustration. Přemysl Line 35) I just feel like I’m wasting my time with everything I do for some reason. Přemysl speaks in a doubtful manner. Přemysl Line 36) And I’m also scared that I can’t tackle bigger things that lie ahead. Přemysl lets out a sigh of exhaustion. Přemysl Line 37) New Year blues, I suppose. I miss how life was when I didn’t think this way. I’d do anything to go back to such simpler times. Theo chimes in, feeling cheerful about Přemysl feeling mutual. Theo Line 38) It’s like you took the words right out of my mouth! I’ve been feeling the same way. Přemysl looks at Theo in surprise, not expecting Theo to speak relatably. Theo speaks in a tone of clarification. Theo Line 39) But my situation is a little different. I’ve been feeling this way because of you. Přemysl’s eyes bulge in shock, speaking in a tone of confusion. Přemysl Line 40) Me? What’d I do? Theo speaks reassuringly. Theo Line 41) Don’t get me wrong, I’m not blaming you for making me feel like this. Having not hung out with you recently is the reason I feel this way. Přemysl speaks in a pressured tone. Přemysl Line 42) The New Year just started. What more do you want from me? Theo releases a chuckle of amusement. He explains himself, providing Přemysl with more context. Theo Line 43) I was just so happy when we hung out for New Year’s that I guess I’m feeling a “melancholic hang-out hangover”. Theo speaks sentimentally. Theo Line 44) That empty feeling you get at the pit of your stomach when you have to part ways with someone you really care about… Theo Line 45) That’s why I’ve been feeling disoriented and dissociative. Přemysl glances at Theo in worry. Theo speaks reflectively. Theo Line 46) I didn’t know I could even feel this way until I met you. Theo Line 47) Anytime we'd wrap up our hang-out sessions, this sensation would just bubble up again. Theo speaks in a bittersweet manner, smiling as he reminisces on the good time they had for the holiday. Theo Line 48) But I feel this way tenfold because the New Year’s was such a special occasion. Theo clarifies any misunderstandings. Theo Line 49) I’m not saying that I want us to hang out all the time. I understand we have our own lives to live, and school on top of that makes our schedules tighter… Theo speaks in an affectionate manner. Theo Line 50) What I’m trying to get at is that I've missed you, Orlin. Theo Line 51) As I explained on New Year’s, you’re my only genuine friend*. *Refer back to episode 44, lines 65"82, etc. Theo speaks in a clarifying way. Theo Line 52) Don’t think that I’m trying to blame you for my feelings. Theo Line 53) That’s something the both of us can’t control. Theo speaks reassuringly. Theo Line 54) Don’t feel responsible for them either. There’s nothing you owe me, nor is there anything you have to do. I’m just simply opening up to you. Theo speaks in a tone of appreciation. Theo Line 55) Again, as I mentioned on New Year’s, you radiate this sense of judgment-free comfort that makes me feel relaxed in opening up about stuff to you*. *Refer back to episode 44, lines 49 and 50. Theo lets out a sigh of relief. Theo Line 56) That statement still holds true. I feel a lot better after sharing this with you~ Přemysl smiles at Theo gladly. He accepts the compliments bashfully. Přemysl Line 57) You give me too much credit but thank you. Theo speaks in a melancholic manner. Theo Line 58) About yearning for simpler times in life*, I can’t agree with you more. *Refer back to line 37 of this episode. Theo speaks in a tone of regret. Theo Line 59) I hope a time machine can be invented within our lifetime. It sucks that I wasn’t conscious enough to appreciate my childhood years. Theo speaks yearnfully. Theo Line 60) Things just aren’t the same as they were. Theo speaks upsettingly. Theo Line 61) I know that’s the whole point of growing up, but it’s hard to come to terms with. Theo shakes his head in disapproval. Theo Line 62) Life is just so complicated, isn’t it? Přemysl nods his head agreeably in disappointment. Theo switches the subject, trying to lift both of their spirits. Theo Line 63) Sorry if our conversation got too deep. Why don’t we switch the topic to something more lighthearted? Přemysl speaks reassuringly. Přemysl Line 64) That’s nothing to apologize for. On the contrary, I like having deep conversations like these. Přemysl Line 65) Instead of glossing over such topics, we should delve into them, though they may be hard to hear or talk about. So, by all means, go on. Theo speaks in a manner of curiosity. Theo Line 66) Can I ask you about anything? Přemysl glances at Theo suspiciously. He puts him on the spot. Přemysl Line 67) Spit it out already. It’s written all over your face. Theo lets out a sigh of amusement. Theo Line 68) There’s no fooling you, now is there? Theo speaks in a calculative manner. Theo Line 69) That thing you wanted to reveal to me on New Year’s. I’m not sure if you caught on, but I mentioned that the both of us were keeping things confidential*. *Refer back to episode 45, line 32. Přemysl glances at Theo in confusion, not anticipating their conversation to turn out this way. Theo speaks in a guilty tone. Theo Line 70) I feel like I should elaborate a bit more on that statement. Maybe slipping that in felt like a tease to you, and that’s not fair at all. Přemysl speaks puzzlingly. Přemysl Line 71) I didn’t catch that detail whatsoever. Theo speaks in an informative manner. Theo Line 72) Well, let me just say for now that I’m also hiding a big part of my identity from you, Orlin. Theo speaks in a tone of uncertainty. Theo Line 73) The thing is, I’m hiding a big part of myself not only from you but everyone else, too. Theo speaks in a relatable manner. Theo Line 74) For some reason, there’s this inkling within me that’s telling me we’re hiding the same secret. Přemysl’s eyes bulge in surprise. He comes to all sorts of conclusions in his head. Přemysl’s narration: Line 75) Theo’s… a vampire?! Line 76) How can that be? And how did I miss all the signs? Přemysl tries to piece the pieces together. Line 77) Firstly, his appearance does radiate a vampire’s aesthetic. Stereotypically, but it still counts… Line 78) He is quite smart. The way he speaks exceeds the “age” he supposably looks… Line 79) Saying that I’m the first genuine friend he’s had in a while also says a lot. That must be because we are drawn to each other from our vampiric allure. Přemysl squints at Theo, with waves of questions sputtering through his mind. Line 80) But how can he walk in the sun? Line 81) The other vampires Ambrož and I have met throughout our lives weren’t day-walkers. As far as we know, Ambrož and I are the only vampires ever who have conquered the sun. Line 82) But that doesn’t mean that Theo isn’t capable of such a thing. He must have broken that curse just like us. Line 83) But then again, his family seemed extremely sincere. How would they all still be alive if he’s a vampire? Did he recently become one? Line 84) But he mentioned that he's keeping this secret from everyone, which must include his family*. *Refer back to line 73 of this episode. Line 85) Then, it doesn’t make sense for him to walk in the sun. That took me and Ambrož decades to overcome. There's no way there's a shortcut. Přemysl tries to regain his composure. Line 86) I shouldn’t be so bold as to reveal who I am at this very moment just from the possibility of Theo being a vampire. That’d be foolish. Line 87) But I am quite curious. I should ease into the conversation to get some more hints. Theo speaks reassuringly, smiling at Přemysl in a wholesome manner. Theo Line 88) Since we mentioned that we’d accept each other as we are, whether or not we believe we understand each other, and whether or not we reveal our secrets. I just want to reassure you of that promise. Theo speaks hesitantly. Theo Line 89) My revelation could completely alter our friendship. Theo speaks apprehensively. Theo Line 90) I’m scared to lose you if I were to reveal my secret. Theo clenches his fists nervously. Theo Line 91) I know you’re not the type to reveal my secret to others, but there’s just a high risk for my confession. Theo’s eyebrows furrow anxiously. Theo Line 92) Based on my luck, I’m assuming that you wouldn’t want to be friends with me after I tell you the truth. Theo speaks apologetically. Theo Line 93) Sorry. I’ll stop talking about it since I won’t be telling you yet. It’s unfair to go on and on about it when you’re probably curious about what I’m hiding, right? Přemysl speaks reassuringly. Přemysl Line 94) I wouldn’t particularly say it’s unfair, but I will admit that I’m curious. Přemysl Line 95) But the same could be said for me. I’m sure you’re curious too. Přemysl speaks in a tone of solace. Přemysl Line 96) If it brings you some consolation, what I’m hiding too has the chance of completely changing our friendship’s dynamics. Přemysl speaks in a stern manner. Přemysl Line 97) Actually, it will. I’m sure of it. Přemysl glances at Theo upsettingly. Přemysl Line 98) I also feel like I’ll lose you if you were to know the truth. Přemysl Line 99) You’re the first friend I’ve ever made in a while, too. I don’t want to put our relationship in jeopardy by telling you my secret. Přemysl Line 100) I don’t want this to have been all for nothing, you know? Theo speaks in a mutual manner, glancing at Přemysl bittersweetly. Theo Line 101) I feel the exact same way. Theo speaks in a tone of consolation. Theo Line 102) There’s no pressure, but I’m ready when you are. Přemysl glances at Theo sentimentally, coming to terms with his next course of action. Line 103) Přemysl’s inner thoughts: If I feel like I’m wasting both of our time dragging this relationship on, then I should just see what happens after telling Theo the truth. Line 104) Přemysl’s inner thoughts: I’ll just compel him if things go wrong. Line 105) Přemysl’s inner thoughts: Now, I know for certain that I should reach out to Ambrož. Line 106) Přemysl’s inner thoughts: I’m going against the biggest rule I set out for us. It’s only fair that he knows. Maybe then, we’ll be able to patch things up. Přemysl takes a deep breath before confessing. Line 107) Přemysl’s inner thoughts: Here goes nothing… Přemysl speaks in a serious manner. Přemysl Line 108) I’m ready, too. Theo looks at Přemysl in surprise, questioning him for his certainty. Theo Line 109) Are you sure you want to do this? Přemysl Line 110) I’ve grown too impatient. The sooner the outcome happens, the sooner we’ll be able to go about the aftermath. Theo responds agreeably. Theo Line 111) I feel the same way. On the count of 3, then. Let’s say it at the same time so that it’s fair. Přemysl Line 112) Understood. 1… 2… 3… The both of them answer abruptly. Přemysl Line 113) I’m a vampire" Theo Line 114) I’m gay" Theo and Přemysl stare at each other in confusion. End of episode. Copyright ©2025 under United States Copyright office, Library of Congress.
