Finally getting let off of work for the holidays, Oumou and Ambrož relax together on their break, with Oumou’s birthday rolling around*. *Refer back to episode 34, line 87. The day is December 22nd, 2004. It's Wednesday afternoon. Oumou knocks on Ambrož’s door, anticipating to be let in. An adamant expression of sadness lurks on her face. Ambrož’s body jolts in surprise from Oumou’s unexpected knock. He quickly finishes decorating his place, placing a party horn in his mouth and having a confetti cannon ready for the occasion. After turning off the lights at his place, he quietly walks over to the door and opens it while hiding behind it. Oumou enters Ambrož’s house in confusion, wondering where he could be and how his door mysteriously opened. She goes to close his door, with Ambrož holding it shut as he hides behind it. She fiddles with the door in confusion, wondering why it won’t close. Oumou Line 1) Ambrož, is that you? Ambrož opens the door in defeat, revealing that he was the one hiding behind it and holding it shut. He shuts his door, glancing at Oumou in embarrassment. He speaks timidly. Ambrož Line 2) I was trying to surprise you. Oumou lets out a chuckle of amusement, dismissing her sad attitude from earlier since Ambrož has managed to cheer her up. Oumou Line 3) You honestly freaked me out more. Ambrož speaks in an apologetic manner. Ambrož Line 4) Sorry. I really should’ve coordinated that better. Ambrož turns his apartment's lights on, showcasing the decorations he had set in place for Oumou’s birthday, scattered around the area. He pops his confetti cannon at Oumou, having the confetti blow into her, as when blowing on his party horn. He speaks in a cheerful tone. Ambrož Line 5) Happy birthday, Oumou~ Oumou glances at Ambrož touchingly, finding his efforts considerate. She speaks in a manner of appreciation. Oumou Line 6) Thank you so much! Oumou glances around Ambrož’s place in delight, observing the decor he set in place for the occasion. Oumou Line 7) I’ve never been thrown a surprise party. Thank you for doing that for me! Ambrož speaks charismatically. Ambrož Line 8) I’m honored to be your first, but this will most definitely not be your last surprise party. I assure you. Oumou speaks in a shy tone. Oumou Line 9) You could’ve waited 3 more days until Christmas for us to celebrate my birthday and the holiday. Ambrož speaks in a manner of determination. Ambrož Line 10) Don’t you remember how I told you I wouldn’t be doing that*? *Refer back to episode 34, lines 89�"91, etc. Ambrož Line 11) Your birthday is today, and that’s final. Ambrož Line 12) It’s completely separate from Christmas. The celebration shouldn’t be combined. Oumou happily smiles at Ambrož. Oumou Line 13) It’s very sweet and thoughtful of you to do something like this. Thank you very much. Ambrož speaks in a tone of delight. Ambrož Line 14) Of course! It’s my dearest pleasure~ Ambrož speaks joyfully. Ambrož Line 15) I think your excitement from planning and decorating things has rubbed off on me because I find doing things like that enjoyable. Ambrož Line 16) Especially if it’s for people I care about*~ *Refer back to episode 35, line 30. Ambrož winks at Oumou. Oumou blushes from him, using her words back at her, showcasing his attentiveness. Ambrož speaks in an alluring manner. Ambrož Line 17) Anyway, is there somewhere in particular you feel like going to today? Oumou speaks in a tone of exhaustion. Oumou Line 18) Honestly, no. I was wondering if we could just chill at your place for the day. Oumou Line 19) I know that request kind of sounds ridiculous since it seems like we’re always just chilling at your place, but I especially don’t feel like going anywhere today. Not to mention that it’s freezing outside. Ambrož speaks reassuringly. Ambrož Line 20) It’s not a ridiculous request. It’s no problem staying home. May I ask why, though? Oumou lets out a sigh of disappointment. Ambrož gently grabs ahold of her hand, leading her over to his couch. He glances at her in an understanding manner. He speaks apologetically. Ambrož Line 21) I’m sorry for asking. You don’t have to tell me if you don’t feel like it. Oumou speaks in a lenient manner. Oumou Line 22) That’s alright. Maybe opening up about it will make me feel better. Oumou takes in a deep breath before delving into the conversation. She speaks in a tone of melancholy. Oumou Line 23) Do you remember how, around a month ago, during Thanksgiving, I was anticipating spending the holidays with my family*? *Refer back to episode 33, line 96. Ambrož nods his head sympathetically, gazing into Oumou’s eyes attentively. Oumou speaks in a manner of disappointment with notes of sadness in her voice. Oumou Line 24) Well, um. I got my hopes up again today. Oumou Line 25) I thought my parents would want me to fly in to visit them, especially on a day like this, or perhaps the other way around with them flying into Michigan to visit me, but nothing like that happened, nor had we planned for anything like that to happen. Oumou Line 26) I was considering flying in to surprise them, but the plane tickets this time of year are way out of my budget. Perhaps, I should’ve planned ahead. Ambrož intervenes in the conversation, speaking in a suggestive tone to provide help. Ambrož Line 27) You should’ve told me this earlier. I could’ve gotten you some plane tickets for today. Ambrož grabs his phone, searching up information on it for Oumou. Ambrož speaks in a manner of determination. Ambrož Line 28) In fact, it’s not too late to schedule anything now. I’m assuming that from here to Washington D.C*. would be around an hour to two hours on the plane�" *Refer back to episode 10, line 18. Oumou grabs Ambrož’s phone, lowering it. She glances at him with tears welling in her eyes. Ambrož looks at Oumou in concern. Oumou Line 29) It’s not worth it… Oumou’s voice trembles in sadness. Oumou Line 30) This is just the way things are. We’re not all close as we used to be. Oumou Line 31) Besides, they called me earlier in the day, wishing me a happy birthday. Oumou Line 32) That’s enough. I’m too needy to ask for more. Oumou speaks in a tone of resentment. Oumou Line 33) I’d probably treat myself the same way as them, knowing that I'm nothing but a disappointment to them. Ambrož interjects upsettingly, severely disliking Oumou’s wording. Ambrož Line 34) Oumou… Don’t say that�" Oumou interrupts Ambrož, speaking bluntly. Oumou Line 35) It’s the truth, Ambrož. Oumou Line 36) I’m the one that decided to move away from them to pursue a music career. Oumou Line 37) And where has that gotten me? I sing at a restaurant all day for nothing. Ambrož chimes in, speaking pragmatically. Ambrož Line 38) It’s been less than 3 months since you’ve moved. Huge goals like that will take more time to accomplish. Oumou speaks in a dejected manner. Oumou Line 39) Either way, I feel utterly useless. I’m not going anywhere in life. Oumou Line 40) I just don’t know what I’m doing. Oumou gives in, letting her tears stream down her face. Oumou speaks in a stern tone. Oumou Line 41) This is probably exactly what I deserve. Oumou Line 42) My ego is way too high. Life had to humble me. Oumou Line 43) There’s no way I’m capable of pursuing my dreams the way I envision. Oumou Line 44) I just don’t have what it takes. Oumou speaks in a manner of remorse. Oumou Line 45) I really should’ve just listened to my parents. Oumou Line 46) Maybe then I wouldn’t have wasted so much time and money on this fantastical pursuit. Ambrož gently places his hands on Oumou’s face. He wipes her tears gazing at her sympathetically. She glances at him timidly, her eyes wet and red from her crying. He caresses her face, speaking to her in a soft tone. Ambrož Line 47) I, for one, am glad you didn’t listen to your parents. Oumou glances at Ambrož in shock, not anticipating for him to say something like that. Ambrož speaks in a sentimental manner. Ambrož Line 48) You wouldn’t have moved to Detroit if it weren’t for that. Who knows when else we would’ve bumped into each other. Ambrož Line 49) Ever since you came into my life, it’s been filled with so much happiness. Ambrož Line 50) I care about you a lot, Oumou. You’ve become such an important part of my life. Ambrož Line 51) I understand that you’re feeling hopeless about your music career, and that sense of uncertainty is being heightened by your parents not keeping the best touch with you… Ambrož Line 52) And I just want you to know that I’m deeply sorry about the roughness you’ve been enduring lately. Ambrož Line 53) There’s been a lot of pressure on you to make things work. Ambrož speaks reassuringly. Ambrož Line 54) But I want you to know that you are going down the right path and that you ARE going places. Ambrož places his hands on Oumou’s shoulders, gazing into her eyes with trust. He speaks encouragingly, with Oumou glancing at him emotionally. Ambrož Line 55) You’re not a disappointment. You’re incredibly talented, which is precisely why you have everything it takes to fulfill your dreams. Ambrož Line 56) Not only are you talented, but you’re sincerely a great person. You deserve this wish. Ambrož Line 57) Nobody has it figured out. There’s not a pathway set in stone for someone with this kind of pursuit to follow. It’s all about getting recognized. Ambrož Line 58) Which not only takes a lot of effort but a lot of luck, too. Ambrož Line 59) It’s a hard road, but it isn’t impossible. Ambrož Line 60) There’s nothing wrong with having a big ego, which I personally don’t think you have… Ambrož Line 61) Just try your best to pave your mindset into believing that this dream is set in store for your future. That manifestation is more than enough to make your dreams a reality. Ambrož speaks in an enthusiastic manner, smiling at Oumou in joy. Ambrož Line 62) You’ll attract it into your life. You want it so much because your future self already has it. Ambrož Line 63) So, keep your chin up, and know that you’re worthy of better. I also wish your parents were more supportive. Ambrož Line 64) You’re not useless. You serve so much purpose in my life. Ambrož Line 65) I most definitely can’t fill the shoes of your family, but I’m always here for you whenever you need me. Ambrož speaks in an apprehensive tone. Ambrož Line 66) I’m mentioning this again just to confirm, and it most definitely will sound suspicious on your end, but I really don’t know how else to tell you this… Ambrož Line 67) I can make your dreams come true within a heartbeat*. Would you like to use me? Or are you still going to try and achieve this your way? *Remember that Ambrož indirectly suggested using compulsion to help Oumou get recognized as a singer, in which she politely declined his request (refer back to episode 30, lines 83�"88, etc). Ambrož reassures himself, hoping that Oumou doesn’t get the wrong memo. Ambrož Line 68) I’m not trying to get your hopes up by proposing a false ambition. I can’t explain any further but just know I have the capabilities to make this work. It just wouldn’t be in a “natural manner”. Oumou gently removes Ambrož’s hands from her face, affectionately holding them on her lap. Ambrož’s eyebrows furrow yearnfully. Oumou responds in a firm tone. Oumou Line 69) That’s still a no. Oumou Line 70) If I can’t do this naturally, then I won’t do it at all. Oumou Line 71) I don’t know how you can make that happen, nor will I question it, but please don’t go behind my back to enact this plan just because I’m frustrated with myself. Oumou Line 72) I know your intentions are good, but I would feel immensely betrayed. So, please don’t do anything. Ambrož speaks in an apologetic manner. Ambrož Line 73) I won’t, then. Sorry for bringing it up. Oumou speaks in a tone of guilt. Oumou Line 74) That’s nothing to apologize for. I should be the one who’s sorry for saying that I should’ve just listened to my parents*. *Refer back to line 45 of this episode. Oumou Line 75) I completely disregarded the impact you’ve had in my life ever since I moved. Oumou speaks in a sentimental manner. Oumou Line 76) Bumping into you has been one of the best things to ever happen in my life. Oumou Line 77) I didn’t mean what I said earlier. I was just being emotional. Sorry. Ambrož pats Oumou’s back, glancing at her reassuringly. Oumou Line 78) Things are rough right now, and I’m starting to lose hope, but having you around makes all of this dejection feel worth it. Oumou speaks in a tone of passion. Oumou Line 79) If I had to do things over again, I’m sure I would pick this path again if it meant that we would bump into each other. Oumou squeezes Ambrož’s hand, glancing at him in a bittersweet manner. Oumou Line 80) I cherish you abundantly. Thank you for being so good to me. Ambrož’s eyebrows melt from Oumou’s touching words. He speaks appreciatively. Ambrož Line 81) That means a lot, Oumou. I treasure you, too. My sincerest gratitude goes out to you. Oumou stands up, making her way over to a portion of Ambrož’s apartment. Ambrož glances at Oumou in confusion. She waves her hands over for him to come to her. Oumou Line 82) Get over here. There’s something I need to do. Ambrož walks over to Oumou puzzlingly. He speaks in a manner of curiosity. Ambrož Line 83) What could it be? Oumou responds playfully, smiling at Ambrož cheerfully. Oumou Line 84) I need to tell you a secret. It’s bad luck to do it near a couch. Ambrož looks at Oumou in worry. Ambrož Line 85) I’ve never heard of that saying, but okay. Oumou Line 86) Duck your head down to my level. Ambrož lowers his head, glancing at Oumou flusteredly. Oumou speaks in a tone of excitement. Oumou Line 87) You have to close your eyes. It’s another form of bad luck. Ambrož hesitantly closes his eyes. Oumou speaks in a victorious tone, happy that Ambrož obliged her requests. Oumou Line 88) Okay, get ready. Ambrož speaks in a trusting manner. Ambrož Line 89) I’m ready. You can tell me. Oumou speaks in a playful tone, bringing her face closer to Ambrož’s. Oumou Line 90) I can’t believe you felt for that. Ambrož opens his eyes in confusion. Ambrož Line 91) Huh�" Oumou swiftly places her hands on Ambrož’s face gently, leaning in to kiss his lips. Ambrož’s eyes bulge in shock from the unexpected gesture. Oumou tenderly lets her lips envelope Ambrož’s, exerting her passion devotedly. Ambrož’s face flushes red, with his eyebrows loosening in satisfaction. He closes his eyes, the shape of them bending while he savors their kiss. He places his arms around Oumou, gently holding her body close to his. He pushes himself further into the kiss, swerving directions as they continue engulfing their mouths into one other. Oumou pulls back, her face flushed but relaxed at the same time from the intimacy. Ambrož releases a chuckle of happiness, glancing at the ceiling of the area Oumou lured him to, spotting the mistletoe they placed for Christmas decor*. *Refer back to episode 34, lines 83 and 84. Ambrož Line 92) Right under the mistletoe, huh? That was supposed to be my trick. Oumou speaks in a playful manner, wanting to tease Ambrož. Oumou Line 93) So, I wasn’t the only one who wanted to kiss? Ambrož Line 94) I was planning to do it either on Christmas or maybe even during New Year’s, since I was afraid that it would feel too soon for you. Ambrož speaks in an affectionate tone. Ambrož Line 95) But today works. I couldn’t have asked for better timing. Ambrož speaks in a playful manner, crossing his arms in a smug way. Ambrož Line 96) You stole my first kiss, Oumou. Oumou happily smiles at Ambrož, enacting a mutual demeanor. Oumou Line 97) You stole mine too~ Ambrož clears his throat, glancing at Oumou bashfully. Ambrož Line 98) So, what are we? Oumou speaks in an eager manner. Oumou Line 99) Ambrož, can we be girlfriend and boyfriend? Ambrož happily glances at Oumou, speaking in an agreeable tone. Ambrož Line 100) Of course, we can! I’ll gladly be your boyfriend! Oumou joyfully laughs at the agreement cheerfully. The both of them embrace each other in a tight hug. Ambrož playfully whispers into Oumou’s ear. Ambrož Line 101) Now that we’re official, does that mean I can kiss you anytime I want to? Oumou returns his attitude. Oumou Line 102) That’s up to you. I feel like both of us could definitely use some practice. Ambrož pulls back from Oumou and offendedly glances at her in a playful manner. Ambrož Line 103) Hey, are you saying I’m a bad kisser? Oumou speaks jokingly. Oumou Line 104) What? No… Ambrož’s narration: Line 105) It’s ironic how Oumou gave me the greatest gift I could ever ask for when it was her birthday that day. Line 106) As she wished, we spent the day at my place, talking with each other, cooking together, watching movies together, and cuddling. Line 107) It was such a happy day for me. I could finally clutch Oumou as my girlfriend. Line 108) All I wanted to do was hold her in my arms all day and smother her in kisses. Line 109) Her warmth and thumping heart awakened the butterflies in my stomach to flutter. Line 110) Later in the day, I served her the cake I bought in advance, with her blowing the candles out for her 21st birthday. Line 111) As flustering as it was to have someone sing Happy Birthday while holding my cake for me*, it was even more flustering to be the one doing that for Oumou. *Refer back to episode 35, line 115. Line 112) The fire from the candles illuminated such a beautiful sparkle within her eyes that ignited so much brilliance. Line 113) After the cake, I gifted her all sorts of things like clothes, makeup, jewelry, skincare, shoes, hair care products, books, posters, perfume, flowers… Line 114) She seemed tense and overwhelmed receiving everything, which made me feel guilty, but her expression of appreciation made everything worth it. Line 115) Lastly, I gifted her a journal filled with affirmations and messages of thanks that I personally wrote for her. Line 116) The look on her face was touching. I also caused her to burst into tears again. Line 117) She pounced on me for the tightest hug I’ve ever received in my life. Line 118) I find it inexplicable how comforting it is to lay my head on her shoulder, using her puffy hair as my pillow. Line 119) Engulfing myself in the sweet scent of her entirety brings me so much solace. Line 120) When she pulled back, she gazed at me so thoughtfully that I just had to lean in to kiss her again. Line 121) That night, she fell asleep in my arms as we were watching a movie together. Line 122) I fell asleep for the first time in my life with a smile on my face. End of episode.
