Anything () is extra information. ____________________________________________________________ Episode 21: The day is October 20th, 2004. It's an early Wednesday morning. Ambrož swiftly jolts out of the couch, frantically making his way over to Oumou’s room in worry that he turned her into a vampire by accident. He knocks on her door in panic, speaking loud enough for her to hear on the other side of the door. A tone of worry is very adamant in his voice. Ambrož Line 1) O-Oumou?! Are you okay?! Oumou opens her bedroom door for Ambrož, glancing at him in confusion. Oumou Line 2) Why wouldn’t I be okay? Is everything alright? Ambrož stares at Oumou in disbelief, his body slightly trembling in fear. Line 3) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: After Přemysl fed me his blood, I passed out, then woke up again, not feeling like myself*. *Refer back to episode 2, line 63. Line 4) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: I need to look out for those kinds of symptoms with Oumou*, even though it takes around 24 hours to fully transition into a vampire*. *Symptoms such as feeling cold (refer back to episode 2, line 73, etc). *Refer back to episode 4, line 31. Line 5) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: I don’t want her to go through the excruciating pain that comes with the transformation. I’ll never be able to forgive myself. Ambrož speaks in a nervous manner. Ambrož Line 6) Listen, do you feel off? Like, you don’t feel like yourself? Oumou speaks in a reassuring tone. Oumou Line 7) I actually feel better right now than I did before you gave me your remedy. Ambrož speaks in a manner of concern. Ambrož Line 8) Do you feel cold? Oumou Line 9) Not at all. What is it? Ambrož lets out a sigh of relief. Ambrož Line 10) Sorry. I assumed the worst. Oumou speaks in a manner of worry, concerned about Ambrož. She leans into him, grabbing ahold of his trembling hands to console him. Oumou Line 11) Jeez! What the hell was in that cup for you to be shaken up like this? Ambrož speaks in a tone of distress. Ambrož Line 12) I just thought you could’ve gotten a side effect from it. Oumou speaks in a reassuring tone. Oumou Line 13) Listen, I know I got an allergic reaction from those exotic desserts we ate*, but I’m not that fragile. *Refer back to episode 19, line 57. Oumou Line 14) That was only a rare occurrence. It won’t happen again. I’m more robust than you think. Ambrož eyebrows furrow in guilt. Line 15) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: I feel bad that she’s interpreting a different conclusion because she doesn’t know the truth about why I’m worried. Line 16) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: I’m such trash. I don’t deserve her. Oumou observes Ambrož’s demeanor. Oumou Line 17) Why do you look so upset? Ambrož speaks in a tone of remorse. Ambrož Line 18) I just feel bad for putting you in this situation. I shouldn’t have stopped by that café yesterday*. *Refer back to episode 19, line 97. Oumou speaks in a reassuring tone. Oumou Line 19) You’re so apologetic for no reason. You did nothing wrong, Glyn. Oumou Line 20) How were you supposed to know that something like this would happen after eating those desserts? Oumou speaks fondly. Oumou Line 21) I had a really good time with you yesterday. No regrets. Oumou Line 22) You’re the one who said you wanted to seize more moments in life*... *Refer back to episode 19, line 7, etc. Oumou speaks in a consoling manner. Oumou Line 23) That was your way of doing that. Ambrož smiles at Oumou, feeling comforted by her assurance. Ambrož Line 24) I suppose. Still, I wish things wouldn’t have turned out this way. Oumou Line 25) It is what it is. That’s out of our control. Oumou playfully punches Ambrož’s chest. Oumou Line 26) Cheer up, you. Oumou Line 27) Get some sleep while you can for a couple of hours before you pick up Orlin*. *Refer back to episode 12, line 84, and episode 20, line 79. Ambrož speaks agreeably. Ambrož Line 28) Yeah. Sorry for bugging you. Oumou speaks in an insistent tone. Oumou Line 29) It’s not a bother. I appreciate you looking out for me. The both of them smile at each other and head their separate ways. Ambrož gets himself situated back into Oumou’s couch, feeling exhaustion overtake him. He thinks in a distressful manner. Line 30) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: I guess she really is fine. I’m glad I didn’t accidentally turn her into a vampire. Line 31) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: Either way, it’s coming to my attention once again how much I hate lying to Oumou. Line 32) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: Concealing my identity is only making me look more suspicious by the second. Line 33) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: Oumou is too kind and forgiving, which is why she disregards my mysteriousness. Line 34) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: But I most definitely went too far today. Line 35) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: Not only did I feed her my blood without her consent, I almost turned her into a vampire. I wouldn't wish this curse on anyone. Line 36) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: Keeping this on the down low is consuming me more than I imagined. Line 37) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: Should I just reveal myself to her? Line 38) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: I think that’d be the best thing to do. I don’t want to continue lying. Ambrož shuts his eyes, letting his restlessness take over, allowing him to fall into a deep sleep. Ambrož wakes up a couple of hours later by his alarm to pick up Přemysl. He gets up in a somber manner, awaiting Oumou’s rejection after he opens up about himself to her later in the day. He rubs his face in exhaustion, feeling melancholic. He quickly gathers all of his belongings, folding the bedding Oumou laid out on the couch for him. He sends Oumou a text message for when she wakes up, heading out of her apartment. He gets into his car and drives home upsettingly. Ambrož arrives, making his way into his house to find Přemysl. Ambrož spots Přemysl packing his lunch in the kitchen. Přemysl speaks in a welcoming manner. Přemysl Line 39) Morning, dude! Ambrož forces out a fake smile, greeting Přemysl in a friendly manner. Ambrož Line 40) Hey. You almost done? Přemysl Line 41) Yes. By the way, today I have a club meeting*. *Remember that Přemysl signed up for the occult club at his high school (refer back to episode 19, line 80). Přemysl Line 42) So, I’ll be done with school a little later than usual. I don’t know the full deets, so I’ll text them to you later. Sound good? Ambrož nods his head. Přemysl Line 43) Also, I got your message earlier. How’s Oumou doing? Ambrož speaks in a somber tone. Ambrož Line 44) She’s fine now. But that’s only because I did something to her. Přemysl glances at Ambrož in confusion. Přemysl Line 45) … What did you do? Ambrož speaks in a tone of guilt. Ambrož Line 46) I fed her some of my blood because I knew it’d heal her. I added it to her tea without her knowing. Přemysl glances at Ambrož in shock. Ambrož speaks in a manner of remorse. Ambrož Line 47) I feel terrible, Přem. I can’t believe I did something so reckless. Přemysl speaks in a manner of distress. Přemysl Line 48) W-What are you going to do now? Ambrož speaks in a tone of anguish. Ambrož Line 49) I don’t think we can be together any longer. Ambrož Line 50) I crossed the line. At this rate, we’ll only get closer, but my lies are spurring up all over the place. I can't keep going with this, knowing that I'm hurting the both of us. Ambrož Line 51) I have to end things once and for all. Ambrož Line 52) The last thing I want to do is break her heart further down the line. Přemysl approaches Ambrož, placing his hands on his shoulders. He speaks in an apologetic tone. Přemysl Line 53) I’m sorry this is so hard. Přemysl Line 54) You’re doing the right thing leaving her out of this. Přemysl speaks in a tone of consolation. Přemysl Line 55) Take it easy. Ambrož sadly nods his head. Přemysl leans in for a hug to comfort Ambrož. Ambrož embraces Přemysl back. Ambrož drives Přemysl to school, receiving a call from Oumou on his way back home. He picks up the call, speaking in a mopey voice. Ambrož Line 56) Hey. How are you doing? Oumou speaks in a cheerful tone, happy to speak with Ambrož. Oumou Line 57) I’m doing okay. What about you? I’m sure you’re feeling exhausted. Ambrož speaks in a dismissive manner. Ambrož Line 58) Don’t worry about me. I’m fine. Oumou speaks in an appreciative tone. Oumou Line 59) I just want you to know that your remedy really helped. Oumou Line 60) All of my symptoms have cleared up. Even the rash on my lip is gone. I feel super fresh! Oumou speaks affectionately. Oumou Line 61) Thank you for treating me. Oumou Line 62) Anyway, since I’m feeling better. I decided to head to work today*, after all. *Refer back to episode 20, line 81. Oumou Line 63) Are we still on for our hangouts after work*? *Refer back to episode 16, line 88. Ambrož speaks hesitantly. Ambrož Line 64) If you don’t feel too tired. Oumou speaks in a tone of excitement. Oumou Line 65) Of course, not. Would you like me to bring our book*? *Refer back to episode 17, line 64. Ambrož Line 66) That’s alright. We can read it another time. Ambrož Line 67) I’ll pick you up as usual. Sound good? Oumou speaks in an enthusiastic manner. Oumou Line 68) Of course! I can’t wait! See you soon~ They end their call with many hours passing. Around evening time, Ambrož drives to Oumou’s job, contemplating his approach with her. Ambrož’s narration: Line 69) I need to come clean to Oumou. Line 70) If she accepts me, even though my chances are slim, only then will we be able to continue this relationship. Line 71) I thought I could continue this without confessing to anything… Line 72) But that wish seemed to be nothing but an utter fantasy. Line 73) Continuing to keep such a huge part of my identity under wraps, all the while lying to her is not working. Line 74) I’ve already messed up, having her become fond of me. Line 75) But this is just the beginning of our relationship. It’s not too late to opt-out. Line 76) This is the best option for the both of us. Line 77) I was a fool to think that things could work out. Line 78) Not only have I betrayed Oumou, I’ve betrayed Přemysl too. Line 79) I must come clean to both of them, and I don’t expect to be let off the hook so easily. Ambrož grips his steering wheel tightly, feeling immensely frustrated. Line 80) Damn cure! I wish it could just fall into my lap. Ambrož arrives at Oumou’s restaurant, watching her sing for the last time. He intently savors her singing, knowing he won’t ever be able to hear it again. He bittersweetly glances at her, making flustering eye contact. Oumou glances back at Ambrož, fully being able to sing in front of him without feeling shy*. *Refer back to episode 16, lines 92-95. The butterflies in Ambrož’s stomach flutter around in excitement from her engagement with him. He happily smiles back at her, embracing their special moment. Oumou finishes singing, approaching Ambrož happily after clocking out at work. Oumou speaks proudly. Oumou Line 81) Hey! I didn’t know I had it in me to sing in front of you like that. Ambrož validates Oumou’s sense of accomplishment. Ambrož Line 82) That happened a lot quicker than I thought. Oumou speaks in a tone of excitement. Oumou Line 83) Right! So, where are we heading today? Ambrož speaks in an alluring manner. Ambrož Line 84) I was thinking I could take you to a site. Oumou speaks in an enthusiastic tone. Oumou Line 85) That sounds fun! I’m down! Ambrož and Oumou drive to the site together. Oumou observes Ambrož’s demeanor. Line 86) Oumou’s inner thoughts: He seems even gloomier in person than through the phone. I wonder what’s up. Line 87) Oumou’s inner thoughts: I hope it’s not about what happened yesterday. I already told him numerous times that he’s not to blame for what happened to me. Line 88) Oumou’s inner thoughts: I suppose he just feels really guilty. I get that. Line 89) Oumou’s inner thoughts: It’ll probably take him some time to get over it. Line 90) Oumou’s inner thoughts: In that case, I should do my best to help him along the way. Ambrož and Oumou arrive at the site. Ambrož gets out of his car, swiftly going to Oumou’s side to help her out. He opens the car door, lending her a hand politely. He smiles at her bittersweetly, with her grabbing his hand happily. Oumou speaks in an intrigued tone. Oumou Line 91) I wonder where you brought us~ Ambrož Line 92) I don’t know either since I’m not familiar with this area, so we’ll be seeing it for the first time together. Oumou blushes, shyly staring at Ambrož. Line 93) Oumou’s inner thoughts: That makes this moment all the more special~ Ambrož leads the way to the view, with Oumou trailing behind him. They make it to the area, with a view being the city during the evening from the height they’re at. Oumou glances at the view in delight, savoring the exposure. She speaks in a cheerful manner. Oumou Line 94) Wow~ It’s so beautiful here! Ambrož speaks in a pleasant tone. Ambrož Line 95) It is, isn’t it? The sky looks like cotton candy with the sun setting. Oumou speaks joyfully. Oumou Line 96) It really does! This makes me excited to travel all around Michigan! Oumou speaks in an adventurous manner. Oumou Line 97) After all, there’s so much I have yet to explore. Oumou speaks in a suggestive tone, anticipating Ambrož’s agreement. Oumou Line 98) Would you like to explore it with me together? Ambrož speaks in a hesitant and apprehensive tone. He glances at Oumou in a bittersweet manner. Ambrož Line 99) I’m utterly sorry from the bottom of my soul for ruining the mood, but there’s something I need to bring up.
