Oumou opens her apartment door for Ambrož, welcoming him into her place. She speaks in a friendly manner. Oumou Line 1) Good morning, Glyn! Welcome in! Ambrož enters, letting out a sigh of relief from her allowing him to enter her home*. *Vampires cannot enter places until they are invited in by the home’s owner (refer back to episode 4, line 60). Ambrož looks around Oumou’s place, finding the apartment delightful looking. He speaks in a tone of adoration. Ambrož Line 2) What a cute place you have here~ Oumou speaks in a tone of flattery. Oumou Line 3) Aww~ You think so? I’m glad you like it. Ambrož Line 4) Yeah. It’s just a bit empty. But that’s why I’m here to help. Ambrož speaks in a productive manner. Ambrož Line 5) Shall we get started? Oumou speaks in a tone of impressment. Oumou Line 6) Straight to the point, huh? Sure! Ambrož Line 7) Alright. What can I help you out with? Oumou Line 8) Here. Let me lead you to my room. There’s furniture that needs to be assembled there. Ambrož follows Oumou as she leads him to her room. Ambrož enters the room, noticing the boxes of furniture scattered around the area, along with Oumou’s other things. Oumou Line 9) These boxes are my bed frame and desk. Oumou Line 10) If you don’t mind, can you get started assembling one of the items? Ambrož speaks in an agreeable tone. Ambrož Line 11) Of course. I told you I’m good at assembling furniture*. *Refer back to episode 10, line 91. Oumou speaks in an appreciative manner. Oumou Line 12) I’m so relieved to hear that because I’m not. Oumou speaks in a tone of distress. Oumou Line 13) It takes me days to finish assembling everything. And I get so frustrated when the instructions don’t make any sense. Ambrož speaks in an understanding manner. Ambrož Line 14) I get what you mean. The instructions tend to be very vague. Requires a lot of thinking, huh? Oumou speaks in an agreeable tone. Oumou Line 15) Tell me about it. It’s like I’m solving a puzzle. Oumou and Ambrož chuckle together. Oumou speaks in a suggestive manner. Oumou Line 16) Have you eaten breakfast already? Can I get you something to drink? Coffee, tea, juice? Ambrož speaks in an appreciative tone. Ambrož Line 17) I’ve already eaten and had my cup of coffee this morning. Thank you for offering, though. Oumou Line 18) Good to know. Well, while you work on assembling my furniture, I still have loads of things to unpack in my room, so we’ll be working together. Ambrož speaks in a considerate manner. Ambrož Line 19) Sounds good. If you need help with something, don’t hesitate. Oumou speaks in a grateful tone. Oumou Line 20) That’s very sweet of you. I want you to know that I really appreciate you coming out here. Ambrož blushes from Oumou’s comment. Line 21) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: She called me sweet~ Oumou speaks in a sincere manner. Oumou Line 22) It means a lot to me. I promise I’ll make it up to you as soon as possible. Ambrož speaks in a cheerful tone. Ambrož Line 23) No need. Spending time with you is enough for me. Ambrož happily smiles at Oumou. Oumou blushes from Ambrož’s remark. The both of them get started on their tasks. Oumou starts unpacking the boxes in her room, organizing her stuff in her closet. Ambrož steadily starts assembling Oumou’s desk, working through things successfully. Oumou strikes a conversation with Ambrož, speaking in a curious manner. Oumou Line 24) So, Glyn. Why did you move to Detroit*? *Refer back to episode 10, line 19. Ambrož stays silent, unable to formulate a sentence, feeling stumped. He speaks in a nervous tone. Ambrož Line 25) I-I moved b-because… I just find Michigan fascinating. Oumou Line 26) Yeah? What enticed you? Ambrož Line 27) Nothing in particular. But, remember how I mentioned I’ve been moving around the country all my life*? *Refer back to episode 10, line 37. Oumou nods her head. Ambrož Line 28) Moving to Michigan is a part of that scheme. Oumou Line 29) Are you trying to cross, traveling all around the world off your bucket list or something? Ambrož speaks in an uncertain manner. Ambrož Line 30) I-I suppose. Line 31) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: I mean… It’s not necessarily me and Přemysl’s main goal with us moving around the country, but it still factors into us exploring the world, so I guess that should count, right? Oumou speaks in a tone of interest. Oumou Line 32) Where have you lived? Ambrož lets out a sigh, thinking back to every place he’s lived. Ambrož Line 33) Practically anywhere you could think of, like South and North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Washington State, Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado… Ambrož glances at Oumou’s face, thinking he’s boring her. Ambrož Line 34) You get the point. Just traveling wherever my feet take me. Oumou speaks in an inquisitive tone. Oumou Line 35) You must’ve started traveling when you were young. How old are you? I’m 20. Ambrož speaks in an agreeable manner. Ambrož Line 36) I’m 20 too. Oumou speaks in a tone of understandment. Oumou Line 37) Ah. So, you’re two years older than me. Ambrož freezes in his stance from contemplation. Line 38) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: She misinterpreted. I just agreed with her age because I wanted us to be able to relate to each other, even though I look 18 on the outside when I'm actually 162 years old*. *Refer back to the top of episode 8, and episode 1, details in between lines 86 and 87. Line 39) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: I don’t want to point out that she’s wrong. Let’s just go with 22 then. Don’t women tend to like older guys anyway? Oumou Line 40) Did you go to college? Ambrož Line 41) Yes*… Line 42) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: A really long time ago, so I’m technically not lying to her*. *Refer back to episode 6, line 96. Oumou Line 43) What degree did you obtain? Ambrož Line 44) A bachelor’s in Anthropology. Oumou speaks in an admirable manner. Oumou Line 45) That’s amazing! Ambrož speaks in a curious tone. Ambrož Line 46) Thanks. What about you? Oumou Line 47) I just recently got my associate's of arts degree in music. Ambrož speaks in an exciting manner. Ambrož Line 48) Congratulations! Oumou speaks in a validated tone. Oumou Line 49) Aww~ Thank you~ Oumou speaks in a sentimental manner. Oumou Line 50) Truth is. I got my associate's degree to transfer into a prestigious university to finish my bachelor's in music, but I’m taking a break. Oumou Line 51) I always didn’t like the way school was structured, so pursuing a higher education just didn’t suit me. Oumou Line 52) I deeply wanted to find a different way to break into the music industry, which is why I moved. Oumou Line 53) I was just tired of waiting and doing something that didn’t seem right to me, so I decided to take matters into my own hands and find a different way to pursue music. Oumou speaks in a fearful tone. Oumou Line 54) If all else fails with my pursuits here, I could always finish my degree, so I’m not necessarily done for. Ambrož speaks in an encouraging tone. Ambrož Line 55) I believe in you! You’re going to make your dreams a reality! Oumou blushes, finding Ambrož’s support fulfilling. Ambrož Line 56) Yeah. That makes sense. Your dating profile indicated that you’re a musician*. *Refer back to episode 9, line 34. Ambrož speaks in an inquisitive manner. Ambrož Line 57) What kind of music do you do? Oumou speaks in a flustered tone, feeling shy, Oumou Line 58) I… play piano… and I-I also sing a bit… Ambrož speaks in a tone of excitement. Ambrož Line 59) Wow! That’s great! So, you want to become a singer? Oumou speaks in a tone of embarrassment. Oumou Line 60) Y-Yeah… Ambrož speaks in a validating manner. Ambrož Line 61) That’s so cool! I’m sure you have what it takes! Oumou speaks in a tone of seeking assurance. Oumou Line 62) You… really think so? Ambrož speaks in a sincere manner. Ambrož Line 63) Of course! Maybe you can show me your skills sometime soon, if you don’t mind. Oumou speaks in a flustered tone. Oumou Line 64) I’ll try. Ambrož Line 65) So, are you thinking of recording an album of some sort? Oumou Line 66) I definitely want to give it a shot. I have some original songs I’d like to record. Oumou Line 67) For now, I’m working at a restaurant. Ambrož Line 68) What do you do there? Oumou Line 69) I’m not necessarily a waitress, but I just help around with certain tasks. Oumou Line 70) But I sing there every night. Oumou Line 71) It’s sort of like a jazz club. There’s a bunch of other musicians that join me as well. Ambrož speaks in a tone of impressment. Ambrož Line 72) That’s amazing, Oumou! You’re doing a great job of putting yourself out there. I’m sure someone that’s big in the industry will notice you sooner or later. Oumou speaks in a bashful manner. Oumou Line 73) Thanks. I hope so too. Oumou Line 74) What about you? Are you working a job in Anthropology? Ambrož freezes in his words, trying to formulate another sentence, feeling put on the spot. He speaks in an uncertain manner. Ambrož Line 75) I-I’m taking a bit of a break from work at the moment. I’m feeling a bit burnt out. Oumou speaks in an empathetic tone. Oumou Line 76) I get where you’re coming from. How long are you planning to take a break for? Ambrož speaks in an indecisive manner. Ambrož Line 77) I’m not sure at the moment, but definitely for a while. I’ve saved up enough to live comfortably without working, so it’s fine. Oumou speaks cheerfully. Oumou Line 78) I’m glad to hear that you’re prepared. Oumou Line 79) Do you have siblings? Ambrož speaks in a nervous tone. Ambrož Line 80) Y-Yeah. I do. He’s still in high school. Oumou Line 81) What’s his name? A frantic expression comes across Ambrož’s face, unable to think of a name. Line 82) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: I haven’t asked Přemysl what his alias for Detroit is going to be. What do I do? Line 83) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: I guess I have to think of some random name. Ambrož looks around his surroundings quickly, trying to find something to name Přemysl. He swiftly stares at the furniture he’s assembling, noticing the manufacturing company being called “Orlin’s furniture.” Ambrož speaks in an uncertain manner. Ambrož Line 84) His name is O-Orlin… Oumou speaks in an affectionate tone. Oumou Line 85) Aww~ Your names kind of rhyme. Glyn and Orlin. That’s so cute! Ambrož releases a nervous chuckle. He swiftly changes the topic, hoping Oumou doesn’t find his hesitations suspicious. Ambrož Line 86) Do you have any siblings? Oumou Line 87) I also have a younger brother who’s in high school. His name is Lamine. Oumou speaks in a tone of distress. Oumou Line 88) He can be a pain sometimes, but I still love him. Ambrož Line 89) Of course. What about the rest of your family? Oumou Line 90) My parents are still around. We kind of got into this huge fight before I moved. Ambrož speaks in a manner of concern. Ambrož Line 91) I’m sorry to hear that. Is everything okay? Oumou speaks in a resentful tone. Oumou Line 92) You know. Things are going. Oumou Line 93) They were heavily apprehensive about me pursuing an education in music, and now that I’ve made the decision to stop attending school to pursue music in other ways, they’re extremely upset with me. Oumou Line 94) I get where they’re coming from, but I couldn’t continue to please their aspirations for me. I had to put myself first. Oumou speaks in a passionate manner. Oumou Line 95) I just want to give music a shot since it seems so right for me to do right now. Oumou Line 96) Of course, I wish they were more supportive, but just because they’re against things doesn’t mean I’m not going to do them. Oumou Line 97) And just because they’re not supportive, doesn’t mean I’m going to scrap this dream that I’ve been so devoted to all my life. Oumou Line 98) Their disapproval is only motivating me to make my break even more. Oumou Line 99) I know I have what it takes. I just need to do it. Ambrož speaks in an enthusiastic manner. Ambrož Line 100) Of course! You have my support! I’m rooting for you. End of Episode. Copyright ©2024 under United States Copyright office, Library of Congress. All rights reserved.
