Anything () is extra information. ____________________________________________________________ Episode 11: The day is October 16th, 2004. It’s a Saturday night. Ambrož arrives home, spotting Přemysl relaxing on the couch while watching TV. Přemysl sits up upon Ambrož’s arrival. He speaks in a curious manner. Přemysl Line 1) Hey. How’d your date go? Ambrož speaks in a fulfilling tone. Ambrož Line 2) It was great! Ambrož explains everything to Přemysl, tweaking some parts of the story for Přemysl not to disapprove of what Ambrož did. They talk with each other as they consume dinner together (animal blood). Přemysl speaks in an inquisitive tone. Přemysl Line 3) So, how are you going to slip in vampire stuff through her? Ambrož Line 4) In a casual manner, of course. Line 5) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: I don’t intend to use Oumou to get leads on the cure for vampirism. But if we get close to each other, I’d slip in wanting to know what she thinks of vampires just for her opinion. Přemysl speaks in an uncertain manner. Přemysl Line 6) I feel like you should’ve chosen to date someone that’s into the occult. What could Oumou know about vampires? She won’t give us any leads. Ambrož Line 7) We’ve conversed with people that were affiliated with the occult before, and that didn’t lead us anywhere*. *Refer back to episode 8, lines 5, 6, and 7. Ambrož Line 8) We shouldn’t underestimate what normal people have to say about us*. *Refer back to episode 8, line 54. Ambrož Line 9) Isn’t that the whole reason why you’ve decided to go to school*? *Refer back to episode 8, details starting on line 46, etc. Přemysl speaks in a tone of irritation. Přemysl Line 10) I agree, but I think it's going to take us a while to get answers from this new approach. Přemysl Line 11) I just wish there was a quicker way. Přemysl lets out a sigh of exhaustion. Ambrož intently observes Přemysl’s demeanor. Line 12) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: Přemysl has always been so adamant about finding the cure*. *Refer back to episode 8, lines 18 and 19. Line 13) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: I’ve never seen this side of him. He seems heavily burnt out. Line 14) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: He was so excited sharing his plan with me yesterday*. *Refer back to episode 8, lines 42 and 43. Line 15) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: I wonder what caused his attitude to change so abruptly. Ambrož speaks in a sentimental manner. Ambrož Line 16) I wish there was a quicker way too, Přem. Přemysl speaks in a dejected tone. Přemysl Line 17) I’m losing my patience, Amb. Přemysl Line 18) I just want to live my life. Ambrož looks at Přemysl with sympathy. Line 19) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: I didn’t think he’d feel the same way as me. Has he been putting up a front all this time? Ambrož speaks in an encouraging tone, offering Přemysl a smile to lift his spirits. Ambrož Line 20) Then live it, Přem. Přemysl speaks in a hopeless manner. Přemysl Line 21) How can I? There’s nothing I can do. Ambrož speaks in an uplifting tone. Ambrož Line 22) That’s not true. There’s a plethora of things you can do. Přemysl Line 23) Not as a vampire. Přemysl Line 24) That’s why I need to find that damn cure. Přemysl scrunches his hair in frustration, speaking in a tone of anguish. Přemysl Line 25) But, jeez. Has it really been 165 years*? *Refer back to the top of episode 8. Přemysl would be 165 years old rather than 162 like Ambrož, since he became a vampire at 15 (refer back to episode 3, details starting on line 77, etc). Přemysl speaks in a manner of disbelief. Přemysl Line 26) The both of us have been vampires for nearly two decades. We’ve lost the concept of time! Přemysl Line 27) And all we’ve encountered all these years are nothing but dead ends, one after another. Přemysl speaks in a tone of remorse. Přemysl Line 28) I agreed to move to Nebraska because I thought I could make things right with you since I let my family down*. *Refer back to episode 6, details starting on line 46. Přemysl Line 29) I’ve done nothing but make your life hell. Ambrož speaks in an assertive manner, dismissing Přemysl’s negative remarks. Ambrož Line 30) That’s not true, Přem. Ambrož Line 31) You turned me into a vampire by accident. You owe me nothing. Ambrož speaks in an appreciative tone. Ambrož Line 32) In fact, I owe you for saving my life. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have made it this far. Ambrož Line 33) Stop feeling guilty over that. It’s been years, and you did nothing wrong. Ambrož Line 34) I know you want to find the cure more than anything, but you don’t owe that to me. Ambrož Line 35) You owe that to yourself, and I owe it to myself. Ambrož Line 36) Yes, it’s exhausting that we’ve been left stumped all these years trying to find the cure to vampirism when we don’t even know if there is one… Ambrož Line 37) But, we’re trying. And that’s all that matters. Ambrož Line 38) Trying will never be a waste. Ambrož Line 39) We’ve got time by our side. Might as well try to do something about our situation with such an advantage, right? Ambrož speaks in a passionate tone. Ambrož Line 40) Listen. We shouldn't have to limit ourselves to the things that we want to do. Ambrož Line 41) We have so many fantasies that we want to enact once we become humans, but it’s wrong to think that way. Ambrož Line 42) Why should we wait until we become humans to do the things we want to do? Ambrož Line 43) If we want to do the things we want to do, then we should just do them. Why wait? Ambrož Line 44) We’ve waited long enough, limiting ourselves to all sorts of things, and watching as others enjoy their lives in jealousy. Ambrož Line 45) We owe it to ourselves to enjoy our lives, just the way we are. Ambrož Line 46) We don’t need to fit in. We don’t need validation from others. We just need to accept ourselves. Přemysl stays quiet, contemplating Ambrož’s words to himself. He speaks in a somber manner. Přemysl Line 47) I don’t know, Amb. Seems like a gamble. Přemysl Line 48) It’s a bad idea. The moment my neighborhood found out that my brother was a vampire, my whole family got massacred*. *Refer back to episode 5, line 88. Přemysl Line 49) People don’t change. To do the things I want to do, I can’t live a lie, pretending like I’m truly a human when I’m not. Přemysl Line 50) Nobody will accept us as vampires. They’ll either be scared or want to hurt us. Přemysl Line 51) Which is why I can’t do anything until I have my hands on a cure. Přemysl speaks in a dismissive manner, rubbing his temples to gather his wits. Přemysl Line 52) This is just a hurdle. I can’t be emotional and rashly decide to call our mission quits just because I’m feeling unmotivated. Přemysl Line 53) It’s just a phase. I’m sure I’ll be over it soon, getting back on track. Přemysl speaks in an assertive tone. Přemysl Line 54) We must stay focused, Amb. Our objective shouldn’t be hindered by impulsive pursuits. Přemysl Line 55) This feeling will pass. We just need to give ourselves time to relax. Přemysl stands up from the dining table. Přemysl Line 56) I’m feeling sleepy. I’m going to head to bed. Ambrož speaks in a nervous manner. Ambrož Line 57) O-Okay. I’m going on another date with Oumou tomorrow. Přemysl Line 58) Alright. Just remember our protocols. Keep our objective clear, okay? Ambrož speaks in an uncertain tone. Ambrož Line 59) O-Of course. Sleep tight! Přemysl Line 60) Good night. Přemysl heads upstairs, going to his room to sleep. Ambrož rubs his head in distress. Line 61) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: I shouldn’t have let him ramble. I wish I didn’t hear what he said. Line 62) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: Now I feel even more guilty about pursuing a relationship behind his back. Ambrož takes a shower and lets his thoughts swirl in his mind. Ambrož’s narration: Line 63) Why am I just now realizing that the whole reason why Přemysl doesn’t want us to get close to humans is because of his past trauma? Line 64) Pursuing Oumou as a vampire without her knowing will hurt her. Line 65) If she finds out who I truly am, she’ll feel sold out, thinking she was dating a human all this time when I’m nothing but a vampire. Line 66) She’ll feel like I wasted her time, either feeling scared of me and ending up heartbroken or seeking vengeance, just like what happened to Přemysl’s family. Line 67) There are various things that could go wrong trying to cozy up to humans. Line 68) I really did let my impulses get in the way. Line 69) But... What I have with Oumou can't be retracted. Line 70) She needs someone to lean on, and I've been leading her in that direction. Line 71) She'd feel crushed if I told her things can’t work out between us. Line 72) And so would I. There’s still so much I don’t know about her, yet I’m already hooked. Line 73) But what about Přemysl? If he knew what I was doing behind his back, he’d feel so betrayed. Line 74) Now that I'm in this pickle, how can I find a solution that won't let down both sides? Line 75) Do I leave Oumou and permanently stop affiliating myself with humans until Přemysl and I find the cure to vampirism? Line 76) Or do I continue pursuing my relationship with Oumou, hoping that if the day comes when I confess who I really am to her, she’ll accept me as I am, and I can prove to Přemysl that there’s a way for humans and vampires to get along? Ambrož rubs his head in distress. Line 77) I feel so conflicted. Why did I put myself in this situation? Ambrož finishes his shower, and lays in bed, scrolling on his phone to ease his mind. He gets a text from Oumou, clicking on the notification. Oumou sent Ambrož a picture of herself drinking a cup of tea. Line 78) Oumou’s text message: I took a warm bath, and now I’m drinking tea. Just wanted you to know that I’m keeping my promise with you*. *Refer back to episode 10, line 111. Ambrož blushes from the text, feeling giddy on the inside. Line 79) Ambrož’s inner thoughts: I didn’t think she’d actually do what I told her to. I thought she just agreed to be polite. Ambrož sends Oumou a message, happily typing away at his phone’s keyboard. Line 80) Ambrož’s text message: I’m impressed. And I’ll keep my end of the promise by showing up tomorrow to help you out at home. Oumou sends a message back. Line 81) Oumou’s text message: Looking forward to it! See you then! 😁 Ambrož smiles, feeling Oumou’s sincerity. Line 82) Ambrož’s text message: Looking forward to it too. Have a great night! 🌜 Oumou likes Ambrož’s message. Ambrož’s narration: Line 83) We’ve barely scratched the surface on what our relationship could blossom into. Line 84) Oumou said herself that just because I have boundaries doesn’t mean I should limit myself on the things I can or cannot do*. *Refer back to episode 10, line 78. Line 85) I have to get to know her some more to get a good grasp of her character. Line 86) Only then will I be able to know if she’ll accept me as a vampire. Line 87) There has to be someone who’ll accept us the way we are. Line 88) Though I was scared, I was able to accept Přemysl when we first met. He said I was the first person in 3 years to ever show him kindness*. *Refer back to episode 3, line 39. Line 89) There are good people in this world. Line 90) Mom and Dad accepted me and Přemysl. Line 91) There are bound to be others who’ll do the same. Line 92) This is why I want to find someone now, yearning to enact all the things I want to do as a human now since I'm tired of waiting. Line 93) I feel like Oumou would accept me. Line 94) Therefore, we have to continue our relationship step by step. Line 95) It’ll take a while, but I have all the time in the world. Line 96) If things go south, I could always compel Oumou to forget me. Line 97) It’d be like what we went through never happened. Line 98) It’ll be okay, I just need to give this a shot. Line 99) I just really hope that I’m not getting my hopes up for nothing. Line 100) Please work out the way I want it to. The next day rolls around and Ambrož makes it to Oumou’s apartment. The day is October 17th, 2004. It’s a Sunday morning. Ambrož knocks on the door, waiting for Oumou to open it for him. Oumou opens the door, happily smiling at Ambrož.
