Anything () is extra information. ____________________________________________________________ Episode 7: 30 years have passed since Ambrož, his parents, and Přemysl moved to America. Ambrož and Přemysl are 48, but continue to look 18 and 15*. *Refer back to episode 3, line 82. The day is September 16th, 1890. It’s Tuesday evening. Ambrož and Přemysl sit beside Ambrož’s mother’s deathbed as she rests in sickness. Ambrož speaks in a tone of concern. Ambrož Line 1) How are you feeling, mom? Ambrož's mother speaks in a weak voice. Ambrož’s mother Line 2) I feel tired. Ambrož’s lips quiver in sadness. Ambrož's mother musters up the courage to caress her son’s face. She speaks in a consoling tone. Ambrož’s mother Line 3) Don’t be sad, Amby. This is all a part of the circle of life. Ambrož’s mother Line 4) I lived a long life, son. 76 years is a blessing. Tears roll down Ambrož’s face. Ambrož's mother wipes her son’s tears, glancing at him in a bittersweet manner. Ambrož’s mother Line 5) Everything is going to be okay, alright? Ambrož nods his head, kissing his mother’s hand as she continues to caress his face. Ambrož's mother diverts her attention onto Přemysl. She speaks in an affectionate manner. Přemysl gently holds onto Ambrož's mother’s hands. Ambrož’s mother Line 6) Přem… The son I never had. Ambrož’s mother Line 7) Thank you for letting me be a mother for you. Přemysl’s eyebrows droop in sadness. He speaks in a tone of nostalgia. Přemysl Line 8) I should be the one thanking you for welcoming me into your family with open arms. Přemysl Line 9) Thank you for letting me be your son. Ambrož's mother chuckles. Ambrož’s mother Line 10) I always dreamed about having another child. Ambrož’s mother Line 11) I’m glad that you were able to fill that void in my heart. Ambrož’s mother Line 12) Thank you for being a part of our family. Ambrož’s mother Line 13) We wouldn’t have wanted it to turn out any other way. Ambrož’s mother Line 14) Our family isn’t complete without you. Přemysl lets his tears flow down his face. Ambrož’s mother Line 15) I love you boys very much. Ambrož’s mother Line 16) The love you guys offered me all these years allows me to lie on this bed with ease. Ambrož’s mother Line 17) Thank you for giving me peace. Ambrož’s mother Line 18) I wish you all nothing but the best in life. Ambrož's mother opens her arms happily, wanting to embrace her sons. Ambrož and Přemysl hug their mother affectionately, savoring her last moments. Ambrož’s narration: Line 19) When Přemysl opened up about what happened to his family*, I didn’t know the proper way to console him since I hadn’t lost a loved one in my life at the time. *Refer back to episode 6, line 21. Line 20) I can empathize with him now, knowing what it’s like to lose someone close to you. Line 21) My mother passed away that very day, frail in bed. Line 22) Přemysl, Dad, and I spent our last moments with her, wanting to be there for her up until the very end. Line 23) If I hadn’t turned into a vampire, I would probably have had to deal with the loss of my family either way. Line 24) But, knowing that I’m set to live forever, I’ll have to live with the grief in my heart from their deaths infinitely. Line 25) I finally truly understand what Přemysl has been going through all these years. Line 26) I can’t quite look at him in the same way. Line 27) I feel such a strong sense of guilt come over me, knowing that I should’ve been there for him more. Line 28) Has he been putting up a front all these years, saying he’s fine when he actually isn’t? Line 29) If so, I failed my duty as his brother. Line 30) I don’t deserve to be addressed in such a manner. Přemysl, Ambrož, and Ambrož’s father loom over Ambrož’s mother’s grave, freshly burying her. They glance at the grave in sadness, feeling emotional from their loss. Ambrož’s father kneels down to place Ambrož’s mother’s favorite flowers on her grave. All of them hug each other in consolation. Ambrož’s narration continues: Line 31) Soon after mom passed away, father was left bedridden a couple of years later as well. Line 32) Old age has most definitely caught up to them. 4 years have passed since Ambrož’s mother passed away. Ambrož and Přemysl are 52 years old, continuing to look 18 and 15. The day is March 28th, 1894. It’s Wednesday evening. Ambrož and Přemysl lurch over their father’s deathbed, watching him wither away in sadness. Ambrož’s father smiles at his sons, feeling appreciative of their company. He speaks in a weak tone. Ambrož’s father Line 33) You boys are too sweet~ Ambrož’s father speaks in a manner of melancholy. Ambrož’s father Line 34) Losing your mother took quite the toll on me. Ambrož’s father speaks in a cheerful tone. Ambrož’s father Line 35) Having you guys by my side helped immensely. Ambrož’s father Line 36) You all kept me going. Thank you very much for that. Ambrož’s father Line 37) The years we all spent together are very fond memories for me. Ambrož’s father Line 38) It’s a huge privilege to lie here and say that. Others have had it so rough. Ambrož’s father Line 39) Thank you for loving me and letting me love you boys too. Ambrož’s father Line 40) It’s time I join your mother. Know that the both of us will be watching over you guys. Ambrož’s father Line 41) We’ll always be in your hearts, and you will always be in ours. Ambrož’s father Line 42) Promise me you’ll all live your lives to their fullest. Ambrož’s father Line 43) Hug your old man for the last time, boys. Ambrož and Přemysl tightly embrace their father, letting their tears get the best of them. Ambrož speaks in a tone of devastation. Ambrož Line 44) I love you so much, dad. Přemysl speaks in a manner of anguish. Přemysl Line 45) Know that I love you too, dad. Thank you for letting me be your son. Ambrož’s father speaks in an affectionate manner. Ambrož’s father Line 46) I love you boys very much too. I’m proud to be your father and proud to call you two my sons. Ambrož’s narration: Line 47) Left to join my mother, father passed away. Přemysl and Ambrož loom over their father’s grave, offering their condolences. Přemysl crouches to the ground, placing flowers near their father’s tombstone. Line 48) We buried dad next to mom, letting them rest in peace together. Line 49) Přemysl and I were left on our own. Line 50) As glad as I was that he was there for me, I continued to feel grief for him, feeling like I failed as a brother. Late at night, Ambrož visits his father and mother’s graves, having a drink and feeling immensely sad. Přemysl notices Ambrož all to himself, and joins him, sitting next to their parents’ graves. Přemysl speaks in a friendly tone, trying to lighten up the mood. Přemysl Line 51) You look like you could use some company. Ambrož glances at Přemysl, feeling ashamed. Přemysl speaks in an apologetic manner. Přemysl Line 52) I’m sorry for how rough things have been for us lately. Přemysl speaks in an apprehensive tone. Přemysl Line 53) … And I’m sorry if you feel irritated that I consider myself a part of this family when that’s not biologically true. Ambrož speaks in a manner of offense. Ambrož Line 54) How can you say that, Přem? Přemysl Line 55) It’s true, though, Ambrož. I can’t be in denial, deluding myself into thinking that I’m actually your brother and your parents’ son. Ambrož speaks in an assertive manner. Ambrož Line 56) Přem, family has nothing to do with whether or not you're biologically related to someone. Ambrož speaks in a sentimental tone. Ambrož Line 57) Family are the people you consider your loved ones. That can be anyone, blood relation or not. Ambrož Line 58) Trust me when I say that your coming into my life has taught me that. Ambrož speaks in a manner of guilt. Ambrož Line 59) In fact, I think that you deserve to call yourself a part of this family more than I do. Přemysl speaks in a tone of shock. Přemysl Line 60) Ambrož… Ambrož speaks in a tone of remorse. Ambrož Line 61) If anyone should be sorry, it should be me. Ambrož Line 62) I’m incredibly sorry, Přem, for being a bad brother. Ambrož Line 63) I should’ve let you lean on me some more. Ambrož Line 64) I can somewhat empathize with what happened with your family, though our situations are drastically different. Ambrož Line 65) I’m not trying to compare my loss with yours, but I’m trying to tell you that I somewhat understand what you’ve been through. Ambrož speaks in a manner of distress. Ambrož Line 66) I just can’t comprehend how you’ve been able to put on a brave smile after all you’ve been through. Ambrož Line 67) You only opened up about your family once, and ever since then, you’ve never mentioned any other hardships you’ve been through. Ambrož speaks in a tone of guilt. Ambrož Line 68) I’m sorry I wasn’t welcoming enough for you to be vulnerable with me. Ambrož Line 69) It makes me think you’ve been putting up this show that you’re alright when in actuality, you aren’t. Ambrož Line 70) I’m so deeply sorry for making you suffer alone. Ambrož Line 71) I don’t expect for you to forgive me, but let me know if I can do anything to somewhat repay you. Přemysl playfully smacks Ambrož’s shoulder. He speaks in a reassuring manner. Přemysl Line 72) Ambrož, you’re such a big dummy sometimes. Přemysl Line 73) You’re apologizing for no reason. You have nothing to be sorry about. Přemysl speaks in a genuine tone. Přemysl Line 74) I never put up a front that I was ever doing alright. I was ACTUALLY doing alright. Přemysl speaks in an appreciative manner. Přemysl Line 75) That’s all thanks to you, and Mom and Dad. Přemysl Line 76) You guys are the reason why I wake up every morning with a smile on my face. Přemysl Line 77) I was extremely hesitant about moving to America with you guys because I felt so much guilt about turning you into a vampire*. *Refer back to episode 6, line 15. Přemysl Line 78) I thought I for sure ruined things between us, practically severing my only chance to make a friend*. *Refer back to episode 3, line 65. Přemysl Line 79) But we were able to make things work, thankfully. And I’m so glad you convinced me to move to America with you guys*. *Refer back to episode 6, line 23. Přemysl Line 80) I would’ve been miserable in Bohemia if I hadn’t left with you guys. Přemysl Line 81) I probably wouldn’t have made it this far without you. Přemysl Line 82) I want you to know that I’m extremely grateful. Přemysl Line 83) Thank you for this opportunity. Ambrož glances at Přemysl in a bittersweet manner. Přemysl chokes up, speaking in an affectionate tone. Přemysl Line 84) I want you to know that I love you, Ambrož. Přemysl Line 85) I sit here by your side, feeling incredibly appreciative, knowing that I’m acknowledged as your brother. Ambrož’s lips quiver, feeling emotional from Přemysl’s touching words. Ambrož speaks in a sentimental tone, letting tears stroll down his face. Ambrož Line 86) I love you too, Přem. Thank you for letting me be your older brother. The both of them embrace each other into a tight hug. Přemysl speaks in a playful manner. Přemysl Line 87) You’re my older brother? Ambrož Line 88) Just look at my face. You still look like you’re learning your ABCs. The both of them chuckle with each other, enjoying each other’s company. Ambrož’s narration: Line 89) Přemysl and I continued to live together as a family, letting many more years pass, having each other by each other’s side. Line 90) We went through so much together as modern times took over. Line 91) Whether it be fighting in a war together… Line 92) Going through adversity… Line 93) Continuing to maneuver our way through life… Line 94) Learning to better ourselves, he was always by my side, and I was always by his. Line 95) We traveled around the world together, constantly living in different regions of the world, to contain our anonymity. Line 96) Through all these years, we assigned ourselves a new mission. Line 97) Our life mission is to find the cure to vampirism. Line 98) Knowing that we were able to overcome the sun*... *Refer back to episode 6, line 90. Line 99) We just felt in our guts that there had to be a way to overcome vampirism. Line 100) We just want to be human again. End of episode.
