Sotsona answers anything her parents want her to explain.

Episode 101: 

The day is June 23rd 2024. It’s a Sunday.

Sotsona’s parents fully apologize to her and take accountability for their mistakes, leaving Sotsona feeling obligated to owe them an explanation as to what she’s been up to.

Sotsona has just asked her parents what they wish to know.

Sotsona’s dad

Line 1) Well, I guess we can start with where you’ve been living.

Sotsona’s mom

Line 2) You scrapped the parent joint account*, which is completely fine, but we weren’t able to decipher whether or not you were paying for a place yourself.

Sotsona sighs before delving into the conversation.

Line 3) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: It’s time I tell them.

Line 4) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: And whatever happens, happens.

Line 5) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: The outcome is out of my control.

Sotsona speaks in an apprehensive tone.

Sotsona

Line 6) I didn’t get a place of my own.

Sotsona

Line 7) I’ve actually been living with someone.

Sotsona’s glances at her parents for assurance.

Sotsona’s parents speak in curious tone.

Sotsona’s dad

Line 8) Can we ask who you’ve been living with?

Sotsona’s mom

Line 9) Is it someone we know?

Sotsona’s parents let her explain.

Sotsona

Line 10) You guys don’t know him.

Sotsona

Line 11) I met him at work, that shift I came late*, actually.

*Refer back to episode 4, line 50.

Sotsona justifies herself.

Sotsona

Line 12) He had nothing to do with my tardiness, I truly walked home that day*.

*Refer back to episode 4, line 24.

Sotsona

Line 13) I felt the need to gather my thoughts that day.

Sotsona

Line 14) The person I’ve been living with is named Casimir, Adair.

Sotsona

Line 15) I’m not sure if you’re familiar with his last name, but he is the CEO of Adair Hair Products.

Sotsona hesitates before letting them in on the whole story.

Sotsona

Line 16) And he’s also my fiance.

Sotsona’s parents look at her in a surprised manner.

Sotsona nervously smiles at them.

Sotsona

Line 17) … Surprise?

Sotsona shows her engagement ring to all of them.

They glance at it in shock.

Sotsona’s dad

Line 18) Wow! Is that a diamond*?

*Refer back to episode 18, line 87.

Sotsona

Line 19) Yeah, it’s a blue one.

Sotsona’s mom

Line 20) It’s very beautiful. Congrats.

Sotsona feels a weight come off her chest.

She lets out a relieving sigh.

Line 21) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: I guess showing them the big old bling bling makes it alright for me to get married.

Sotsona’s mom

Line 22) You mentioned you met him at work, right?

Sotsona

Line 23) Yes, I was the waiter who served at his table, and he took a liking to me somehow.

Sotsona’s dad

Line 24) So, you’ve only known him for 4 months?

Sotsona hesitantly glances at her dad, observing the skeptical expression on his face.

Sotsona speaks in a passionate manner.

Sotsona

Line 25) That’s right. But we’ve gotten very close to each other in such a small span of time.

Sotsona

Line 26) I’m not sure if you guys perceive it that way, based on what I’ve told you all so far…

Sotsona speaks in an affectionate manner.

Sotsona

Line 27) But what Casimir and I share is a very important bond.

Sotsona

Line 28) We’re able to understand each other and lend a shoulder when needed.

Sotsona

Line 29) Leaving you guys was hard for me because I had no one left.

Sotsona

Line 30) But he was welcoming enough to open his arms and let me into his life.

Sotsona

Line 31) I felt seen, and he showed me a world I had no idea about.

Sotsona

Line 32) Eventually, I fell for him.

Sotsona

Line 33) From the start, Casimir made it clear that if we were going to be together, it would be with serious intentions*.

Sotsona

Line 34) So, I knew what I was getting myself into, and I was okay with where that would lead to. 

Sotsona

Line 35) It happened quickly, but it felt natural.

Sotsona

Line 36) Sure, we still have a lot to learn about each other, but getting married to him seems right.

Sotsona

Line 37) Which is why I said yes.

Sotsona speaks in a reassuring voice.

Sotsona

Line 38) I want to assure to you guys that our love is pure.

Sotsona

Line 39) He never pursued me for the wrong reasons; it’s not like that between us.

Sotsona speaks in a cheerful manner.

Sotsona

Line 40) How we got together was not necessarily conventional, but it worked for us, and I’m very happy that I met him.

Sotsona

Line 41) So, what do you guys think?

Sotsona’s parents try to process the news.

Sotsona’s dad

Line 42) We think it’s great, but no matter how you speak of him, we still don’t know him like that.

Sotsona’s mom

Line 43) We’re not saying that we don’t trust you. I think we’d just like it if we got to meet him and see what he’s like for ourselves.

Sotsona

Line 44) I understand. That can be easily arranged.

Sotsona smiles.

Sotsona

Line 45) He’d look forward to meeting you guys.

Her parents glance at her nervously.

Sotsona observes their expressions, and her smile fades.

Line 46) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: That look of disapproval.

Line 47) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: Just what will they say now?

Her parents hesitantly speak.

Sotsona’s dad talks in a suggestive manner.

Sotsona’s dad

Line 48) Sotsona, don’t take this the wrong way, but don’t you think that you guys still need more time before committing to something like that?

Sotsona speaks in a reassuring tone, desperate fro her parents approval.

Sotsona

Line 49) We aren’t getting married right away, we still have many months of planning.

Sotsona’s dad speaks in a curious tone.

Sotsona’s dad

Line 50) How many months would you say approximately?

Sotsona thinks to herself.

Sotsona

Line 51) I think Casimir mentioned around a year or more left of planning*.

*Refer back to episode 79, line 8.

Sotsona

Line 52) He said he wants our wedding to be perfect, which is why he’s taking the time to fully plan everything out*.

*Refer back to episode 79, line 20.

Sotsona’s mother nods her head and glances at her husband to see if he agrees.

Sotsona’s father nods his head understandingly as well.

Sotsona’s mom

Line 53) During that span of time, the two of you will get closer to each other.

Sotsona’s mom

Line 54) Thus strengthening your relationship further before the marriage.

Sotsona’s mom

Line 55) But marriage is very serious. Are you sure he’s the right person?

Sotsona’s dad speaks in an assuring voice.

Sotsona’s dad

Line 56) Again, don’t take that question the wrong way. We just want to make sure that you feel confident enough to go through with something that serious with him.

Sotsona’s dad

Line 57) Committing to the right person usually takes a lot of time and trust, that’s why we’re a bit skeptical of whether or not you and Casimir are certain enough to go through with something like that.

Sotsona’s dad speaks in a skeptical manner.

Sotsona’s dad

Line 58) Do you get what we mean?

Sotsona speaks in an assertive manner.

Sotsona

Line 59) I do. I want to assure you guys that I feel very certain that Casimir is the right person.

Sotsona speak yearningly.

Sotsona

Line 60) I wish I met him many years ago due to how fast our relationship progressed*.

Sotsona

Line 61) Everything happened quickly, but it doesn’t feel out of place.

Sotsona’s mom

Line 62) We just want you to be confident that he’s the right guy.

Sotsona

Line 63) I understand. So, does that mean you guys approve of us getting married?

Sotsona’s mother and father glance at each other.

Sotsona’s dad

Line 64) We’d definitely like to meet him, but we’re still a bit on the fence about everything.

Sotsona’s mother speaks in an apologetic manner.

Sotsona’s mom

Line 65) Please don't take that personally, we just want to verify everything on a consensus, before you get married.

Sotsona’s parents speak in agreeable manners.

Sotsona’s mom

Line 66) But, seeing as we have plenty of time to be convinced of that, we approve of you guys being together.

Sotsona’s dad

Line 67) A lot can happen in a year. I’m sure we’ll be convinced once we get to know Casimir.

Sotsona’s dad

Line 68) Switching gears, what about work? Since we got intel that you quit as a waitress*, where do you work now*?

Sotsona

Line 69) Casimir gave me a job opportunity to work alongside the main staff of Adair*.

Sotsona speaks in a fulfilling manner.

Sotsona

Line 70) I focus on marketing and advertising aspects, and I’m very satisfied with the job.

Sotsona speaks in an admirable tone.

Sotsona

Line 71) I thought it’d be hard to work for such a prestigious company, but all of my coworkers are great people who have been guiding me through the process.

Sotsona

Line 72) I work alongside his sister actually. She’s the COO fo Adair, her name is Celestyn.

Sotsona

Line 73) She’s very sweet. You saw her last week, mom*.

Sotsona speaks in a tone of excitement.

Sotsona

Line 74) We had just exited a tailor shop to get my wedding dress custom-made with her and her mother, Zephryn, who’s the founder of Adair.

Sotsona

Line 75) The both of them have been very kind to me. I’m sure they’d be happy to meet you guys as well.

Sotsona’s dad speaks in a tone of relief.

Sotsona’s dad

Line 76) We’re glad that they’ve been there for you and have offered you great opportunities.

Sotsona’s dad speaks in a tone of encouragement.

Sotsona’s dad

Line 77) While we’re on the topic, you’re still very young, though. How about seeking a profession for yourself?

Sotsona looks at her dad in confusion.

Sotsona

Line 78) I don’t get what you mean.

Sotsona’s mom

Line 79) Like getting a degree.

Sotsona’s mom

Line 80) It doesn’t necessarily have to be community college. There are things like enrolling in courses and programs. We can take a look at other options as well.

Sotsona’s dad speaks in a reassuring tone.

Sotsona’s dad

Line 81) I apologize for saying this continuously, but don’t take this the wrong way…

Sotsona’s dad speaks in a precautious manner.

Sotsona’s dad

Line 82) We just want to make sure that you're independent and not reliant on Casimir’s funds.

Sotsona’s dad

Line 83) I won’t sugarcoat it; I'm assuming he’s been providing you with a lot, and that’s great…

Sotsona’s dad

Line 84) But what’s better is providing for yourself.

Sotsona’s dad

Line 85) Having a degree in something you’re passionate about and pursuing that further is ideal.

Sotsona’s mom

Line 86) We just want to make sure that you have the funds to sustain for yourself.

Line 87) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: I know exactly what they’re alluring to.

Line 88) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: If we get married, and hypothetically things don’t work out between me and Casimir and he decides to leave, all of which he’s given to me will be taken away.

Line 89) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: Of course, I don’t see us breaking up happening at all whatsoever, but I understand where they’re coming from.

Line 90) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: They want me to have a proper footing in a career, so if something like that were to occur, I have something to lean on. They're being cautious.

Line 91) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: Although I have been sustaining myself in buying everyday essentials, at the end of the day, it’s not like I can afford to chime in on the rent for Casimir’s penthouse. 

Line 92) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: He’s also handled a lot of my expenses. I’d like to compensate for all those things someday with my own money.

Line 93) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: I’m glad they’re really thinking things through. These are things that I didn’t even consider before.

Line 94) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: They really seem to be immersed and implementing serious themes into my marriage.

Line 95) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: I know I can’t trust them just for simply doing that, but it seriously does seem like they’re looking out for me.

Line 96) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: I’m just glad that they aren’t against our marriage. That was what I was heavily afraid of today.

Sotsona’s mother speaks in a curious tone.

Sotsona’s mom

Line 97) So, what do you think? Do you want to do something like that?

Sotsona’s dad

Line 98) If you want to still attend your dream school*, we’ll be willing to help with the payments.

Sotsona’s eyes spark.

Line 99) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: That school? They still think I can go?

Line 100) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: I haven’t thought about it in a while.

Line 101) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: I’m confused about whether or not there’s still a burning desire within me to pursue it.

Line 102) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: And now that I have the chance to do so, should I?

Line 103) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: Seems like it’s a bit too late for anything like that.

Line 104) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: I want to see what Casimir thinks.

Line 105) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: Does that school still call out my name?

Sotsona’s dad speaks in an encouraging manner.

Sotsona’s dad

Line 106) It’s not too late for you to go. You’re only 24.

Sotsona’s parents speak in happy manners.

Sotsona’s mom

Line 107) Happy belated birthday, by the way.

Sotsona’s dad

Line 108) Yeah. Happy belated birthday.

Sotsona smiles at her parents.

Sotsona

Line 109) Thanks. I’ll definitely take a look at educational options.
