Casimir reminisces at the memory, letting the warm sensations of those precious times return to him. Line 14) I utterly love it because we become closer to each other. Line 15) I can tell that what he’s about to open up to will be difficult and lengthy for him. Line 16) I’ve rarely gotten to see that side of him, so I don’t know what to expect. Line 17) But if he needs a shoulder to cry on, I’m here for him. Line 18) He’s been there for me all this time, it’s time I repay the favor properly. After all, reciprocation is integral to relationships. Sotsona Line 19) This view always takes my breath away. Sotsona Line 20) Something about it just brings me so much peace of mind. Sotsona looks over at Casimir. Sotsona Line 26) Now, if you asked me if I resent them around 2 months ago, I would’ve still held a grudge*. *Refer back to episode 65, line 77. Sotsona Line 27) But since it’s been around 4 months since the last time I’ve seen them… Sotsona Line 28) I really don’t know how to feel about the ways things are between us. Sotsona Line 29) I’m not even mad anymore. I’m just confused. Sotsona Line 30) I’m definitely still sad. Sotsona Line 31) Because I envision how my life would have been if we had a good relationship and got along with each other. Sotsona Line 32) I think that would have helped my younger self a lot. Sotsona Line 33) I wouldn’t have to deal with the scars they left on me, waiting for them to heal eagerly. Sotsona Line 34) Which is why I still can’t seem to forgive them all just yet. Sotsona Line 35) And being completely honest, I don’t want to. Sotsona Line 36) I’m okay with the way things are. Sotsona Line 37) If I never see them again, that won’t fret me. Sotsona Line 38) It’ll simply be a locked door from my past. Sotsona looks at Casimir wholesomely. Sotsona Line 39) I’m more than content with the way my life is with you. Sotsona Line 40) And, once we get married, I’ll be apart of your family. Sotsona smiles at Casimir. Casimir smiles back at her bittersweetly. He sighs before he speaks, with Sotsona continuing to massage his hands gently. Casimir Line 41) You’re doing the right thing. Your parents hurt you. Line 47) Casimir’s inner thoughts: I guess it’s about time she knows about him. Line 48) Casimir’s inner thoughts: Now that Celestyn’s brought it up, I can’t just brush this off as if I didn’t hear anything. Line 49) Casimir’s inner thoughts: It’s something I’ve been holding off on telling her for a while. Line 50) Casimir’s inner thoughts: Might as well rip off the bandaid now that we’re on the subject. *Shot cuts back to the present moment. Sotsona speaks in a desperate tone. Sotsona Line 51) Please. Don’t let anyone pressure you into opening up about this. Sotsona Line 52) Some things are better left unsaid. If all of this is just to include me, I’m begging you to save your breath. Sotsona Line 53) Don’t feel forced to talk to me about this. Casimir gently massages Sotsona’s hand. Line 54) Casimir’s inner thoughts: I thought she’d say something like this. Line 55) Casimir’s inner thoughts: I feel assured in telling her now. Casimir speaks in a somber tone. Casimir Line 56) I bet you’ve been wondering about this for a while too. Casimir Line 57) Connected the dots and figured out why everyone besides my dad is in the picture. Casimir Line 58) It’s time I tell you. Casimir Line 59) Nobody is pressuring me into doing it. In actuality, it’s something I’ve been putting off for a while. Casimir Line 60) I just hope you don’t see me any differently. Casimir sighs before delving into the conversation. Casimir Line 61) It happened when I was 13, so around 12-13 years ago. Casimir’s eyes widen in disbelief. Casimir Line 62) I really can’t believe it’s been that long. Casimir Line 63) Anyways. Throughout the whole 13 years of life back then, my dad was in them. Casimir Line 64) I remember him as a radiant person. *Shot cuts to Casimir and his father fishing with each other. Casimir’s narration: Line 65) He never raised his voice at me. Line 66) In fact, I can’t recall a time when he ever lashed out at me. Line 67) I don’t think it was favoritism either, although I am the youngest in the family. Line 68) We just got along together very well. Line 69) And I never wanted to leave his side. Line 70) But, he was very busy running what's known as Adair nowadays. Line 71) He wanted to maintain the business he worked so hard to establish. Line 72) Because he wanted things to be easier for our family since he had it so hard all his life. Line 73) Dad didn’t come from a good background. Line 74) His parents were hard on him, his neighborhood was dangerous, and opportunities didn’t come easy. Line 75) Dad did everything to escape that sort of life. Causing envious enemies to procure along the way. Line 76) They were severely jealous of him. Wanting to crash the empire, he put his blood, sweat, and tears into. Line 77) Dad flipped his life around when he opened Adair with Mom. Line 78) That’s how they got to know each other. Line 79) She was a breath of fresh air to him. Line 80) And, unlike the other people in his life, she had nothing to do with his harsh upbringing. Line 81) Which is why dad latched onto her with all his might. Line 82) Knowing that if he didn’t seize the opportunity, he’d never get another chance to change things. Line 83) I guess that’s where I get my boldness from. Line 84) They fell in love and had Celestyn, then me. Line 85) During that time, the business grew rapidly, leaving mom and dad satisfied with their company’s success. Line 86) Mom didn’t know much about dad’s past since it was such a sore subject for him to bring up, and he wanted to look past it. Because of that, she decided to go with his flow. Line 87) It was something she overlooked because she loved him enough, but his past led us to our tragedy. Line 88) The day was October 17th, 2011. I was awakened by sharp and loud sounds coming from another room in the dead of midnight. Line 89) After that, I heard mom screaming from the top of her lungs. Line 90) The piercing sound of her anguish frightened me. I remember swiftly rushing out of my room in concern. Line 91) As I was leaving my room, I spotted Celestyn doing the same. The alarming expression on her face haunts me to this day. Line 92) We rushed to where the screaming came from, which was our parents’ room. I witnessed the horror of my mother covered in blood. Line 93) At first, I assumed that the blood was hers from all the screaming. However, I was gravely mistaken when, upon closer inspection, the blood was coming from the wounds in my father’s chest. Line 94) I found my father limply lying on the ground, with several bullets deeply lodged into his chest. Line 95) There was shattered glass on the floor. Line 96) And a busted window. Line 97) My eyes were practically bulging out of my sockets from how disturbingly shocked I was by the treacherous scene of that night. Line 98) My poor mother, holding her wounded husband looked utterly traumatized. Line 99) As kids, we didn’t know what else to do besides call for an ambulance. I remember how Celestyn’s hand was trembling horrifyingly as she held the phone in her small grasp. Line 100) We spent the last moments of my dad's life gathered around him as he lay dying on the ground. Line 101) If only the emergency had come sooner, perhaps he would’ve made it out alive. Line 102) But they pronounced him dead on the scene. Line 103) Once they told this news to my mother, she dropped to her knees, wailing immensely. I've never seen my mother in such a state. Line 104) Although Celestyn and I were young, we completely understood from that reaction that our father had passed away. Line 105) I wouldn’t wish the dreadful feeling of my stomach dropping from that news to my worst enemy. End of episode. © 2024 YoshAuthor's Note
