Calista wakes up the next morning and turns to see Marvin. She gets up and quickly notices that he’s not in bed. In panic she rushes out to the living room, and spots his head by the kitchen. She exhales in relief, thinking something bad might’ve happened. She walks over to him and wraps her arms around him. Calista Line 1) You scared me. Marvin Line 2) I’m sorry. I was trying to surprise you by serving breakfast in bed. Marvin Line 3) Either way, I didn’t want to wake you. Marvin Line 4) You were all snuggled up. Like a caterpillar in its cocoon. Calista laughs. Calista Line 5) Yeah. I guess that’s the way I sleep, huh? Marvin Line 6) I’m almost finished. Go take a seat. Calista Line 7) It smells really good. Calista goes to take a seat and Marvin finishes plating and gives Calista her plate. Calista looks at the food in shock. Marvin Line 8) Breakfast is served. Eat up. Calista reaches into her pocket and panics. Marvin is confused. Calista Line 9) Huh? Where’s my phone? Marvin leans his head to the side in question. Marvin Line 10) That’s the 37th time you’ve done that. Calista realizes. Calista Line 11) Wow. You’ve kept count? Marvin Line 12) Yes. Now eat up. Or your food will get cold. Marvin Line 13) Why would you need your phone anyway when you’re about to eat? Calista Line 14) I wanted to take a picture. Calista Line 15) This is just so pretty. Marvin stands up and looks in his cabinets. He pulls out a camera and cleans it up a bit. He comes over to Calista and hands her the camera. Marvin Line 16) This should work. Calista Line 17) Huh? Where was this, all this time? Marvin Line 18) I forgot I had it. Marvin Line 19) You reminded me when you said you wanted to take a photo. Calista Line 20) We could’ve taken so many pictures with this. Marvin Line 21) I’m sorry. I just completely forgot about it. Calista Line 22) Do you know how to use it? Marvin Line 23) It’s actually quite complicated. Marvin takes a picture of Calista’s food. Calista Line 24) Can I see? Marvin Line 25) You won’t be able to. It’s a film camera. Calista Line 26) But, doesn’t that take forever to process? Marvin Line 27) It takes around a day because the pictures need to dry. Calista’s confused. Marvin Line 28) When we take enough pictures I’ll show you how to develop them. Calista Line 29) Then that means we’ll have to take a lot. Calista digs into her food. Her face shows the food is good. Marvin Line 30) How is it? Calista Line 31) Really, really, good. Marvin Line 32) I’m glad. They go to a thrift store together. Marvin closes his eyes and runs his fingers through the clothes. Calista Line 33) Stop. Marvin opens his eyes and looks at the shirt Calista made him stop at. He gives a disgusted look. Calista smiles. Calista Line 34) Guess you’ll be wearing that. Marvin tries on all his clothes in the fitting room. He opens the curtain and shows Calista his final look. Calista laughs at him. Marvin Line 35) Don’t laugh. This is the new editorial look. You’re offending people. Calista Line 36) My bad, monsieur. Marvin Line 37) Now it’s your turn. Calista gets changed in the dressing room and reveals her outfit to Marvin. Marvin smiles. Marvin Line 38) Wow. Look at you. Marvin Line 39) Together we make the perfect dynamic duo. Marvin makes a box with his fingers. Marvin Line 40) But, I feel like it’s missing something. Calista Line 41) And what could that possibly be? Marvin Line 42) An accessory. I’ll go check out what they have. Marvin goes back to the main room and looks at bags. His eyes land on a tacky bag and he grabs it. Marvin Line 43) This is perfect. Marvin gives it to Calista. She looks at it and puts it on. Marvin Line 44) See? I knew you needed something to top this off. Calista Line 45) You know where this makes me want to go? They go to an art museum and Marvin orders their tickets. Marvin Line 46) May I please have two adult tickets? The cashier looks at the both of them confused. They walk around the museum a bit. Marvin Line 47) So, why’d you feel like coming here? Calista Line 48) This new persona of ours feels like they would love to go to places like these. Marvin Line 49) New persona? So, do we have new names, or something? Calista smiles. Calista Line 50) I thought you’d never ask. Calista rings out her hand. Calista Line 51) The name’s Unathi Camacho. Calista Line 52) And you are? Marvin accepts her hand. Marvin Line 53) Vittorio Bandello, at your service. Calista Line 54) So, Vittorio. What’s your favorite art piece here? He grabs Calista’s hand and leads her to a very minimalistic painting. Marvin Line 55) It’d have to be this one. Calista Line 56) Hmm. What do you like about it? Marvin Line 57) It just speaks to me. Marvin Line 58) The shapes look like shapes. And the colors look like colors. Marvin Line 59) It’s just so deep when you think about it like that. Don’t you think so? Calista Line 60) Ahh. I see it. Calista Line 61) This compared to a renaissance painting just can’t compete. Calista Line 62) This is so much better. Marvin breaks character. Marvin Line 63) Honestly it looks like something you could make. Calista grabs Marvin's hand. She leads him to an even more minimalist painting. Calista Line 64) And this looks like something you could make. Marvin breaks character again. Marvin Line 65) Wow, it’s just so… Wow. The artist must have spent so much time working on this. Calista pretends like she feels something. Calista Line 66) You’re right. They’re so talented. They exit the museum. And walk around. Calista has the pamphlet from the art museum in her hands. Calista Line 67) Hey, Marvin. Marvin Line 68) Marvin? Who’s Marvin? My name’s Vittorio. How could you forget that? Calista Line 69) Oh, right. I just wanted to show you, Mr. Bandello, that this bag you bought me is actually coming into good use. Calista puts the pamphlet in her bag. Calista Line 70) Ooh~ Marvin Line 71) Ahh~ An advertiser stops their paths. Advertiser Line 72) Good day fellow passengers. Would you guys like to come to our food festival at seven in the evening today? They pick up the advertising pamphlet and take a look at it. Advertiser Line 73) Today we’ll be serving all kinds of food. Both of you should come. It’s not something you want to miss. Marvin looks at Calista with an eager face. They make their way to the food festival that day. The place is bustling with people. Calista Line 74) Dang. It's quite crowded here. Marvin Line 75) I guess we weren’t the only ones who wanted to check this place out. Marvin Line 76) I’m hungry though. So, let’s get something to eat. They go by the street foods and try samples of each thing. Calista spots the Malai Kofta she promised to make Marvin some day. *We get a flashback from that scene. Calista Line 77) Excuse me. Is this Malai Kofta? The food receptionist nods his head. Calista looks at Marvin in shock. Calista Line 78) I’d like to buy it. They eventually buy all their food and find a place to sit and eat it. Marvin Line 79) What are the chances we’ll get food poisoning from this? Calista’s already stuffing her face. Calista Line 80) I’m sorry what’d you say? Marvin finds a bit of sauce on her face and cleans it off his finger and licks it. Marvin Line 81) How’s the food, Unathi? Calista Line 82) Amazing. It doesn’t take much to please me. Marvin Line 83) What were you so excited about over there? Calista remembers. Calista Line 84) Think back to a while when you were first teaching me how to cook. Calista Line 85) Remember when I mentioned I wanted to make you some Malai Kofta? Calista Line 86) Well, this is it. Ring any bells? Marvin remembers. Marvin Line 87) Oh yeah! So, this is what it looks like. Calista Line 88) Just wait till you try it. Calista stuffs his face with it. She waits for his reaction. Marvin looks pleased. Marvin Line 89) That’s delicious. They smile and eat up some more. The evening wraps up and they rest on each other's shoulders as they look at the sky. Marvin Line 90) Do you think sunsets are overrated? Calista Line 91) Absolutely not. They’re the prettiest time of day. Marvin Line 92) Have you ever seen a sunrise? Calista Line 93) Well yeah. But, I’m always so cranky in the morning that I forget to appreciate them. Marvin Line 94) What if I told you that sunrises are better than sunsets? Calista Line 95) I’d have to see it for myself to believe it. Calista Line 96) But, is waking up early all that worth it? Marvin Line 97) Oh, trust me. It’s worth it alright. Calista smiles. Marvin Line 98) What do you say, tomorrow morning I wake you up just before the sunrises? Calista Line 99) I’d love that. They lean on each other's shoulders and the food mascot passes by and gives them a doll. Marvin and Calista shrug to each other when they receive it. Calista’s narration: Line 100) How could I forget to make Malai Kofta for Marvin? Line 101) I promised that I’d make it for him some day. Line 102) However, I am glad he was able to try it one way or another. Line 103) It’s like the universe prepared it for us during this certain time. Line 104) I guess what goes around eventually does come back to you. Line 105) It makes me wonder what other promises I couldn’t keep. Line 106) If the situation were different. I’m sure I’d keep my word. Line 107) But, since things are the way they are, I don’t have enough time. End of episode. © 2024 YoshAuthor's Note
