Marvin is headed out to see his friends after they finish dinner. Marvin Line 1) I’m headed out. Talulla Line 2) Where are you going? Marvin Line 3) I’m meeting up with my friends. Calista keeps her ears perched. Talulla glances her way. Marvin Line 4) I’ll be back shortly. Marvin leaves for the door, and shuts it behind himself. Calista is petting Rex on her own. Talulla stands in front of her. Talulla Line 5) Are you gonna tell me what the heck is going on between you two? Calista glances down. Talulla Line 6) Hey. Eyes up here. I’m talking to you. Calista Line 7) There’s nothing going on between us. Talulla Line 8) Pft. Like I’ll believe that. Talulla Line 9) If there’s nothing going on, why’d he just leave? Calista Line 10) If you didn’t see your friends in eight months, wouldn’t you want to hang out with them? Talulla Line 11) Well duh, but I thought this whole send back thing was for you and Marvin to spend more time together. Calista Line 12) That doesn’t mean we have to spend ALL our time together. Talulla tsks her tongue. Talulla Line 13) I told you and Marvin how I handled the Elouise situation, so why can’t you tell me what’s going on? Calista Line 14) It doesn’t concern you. Talulla gives Calista a blank stare. Calista Line 15) Sorry if that was blunt. But, I’ll tell you once it’s been sorted out. Calista Line 16) I feel like I’m burdening you, since you’re constantly meddled into my problems. Talulla Line 17) Honestly, I’ll feel even more mired into the situation if you don’t tell me anything. Talulla Line 18) What could have possibly gone wrong, when we’ve only been here for a couple of days? Calista’s narration: Line 19) That’s the thing. It’s not because of Marvin. It’s because of me. Line 20) I’m scared to disappoint him, because I’m scared he’ll lose interest in me, and all of this would have been for nothing. Line 21) I don’t want to be a difficult partner for him. Line 22) And since that’s exactly what I’m doing to him right now. Line 23) I fear that I’m not suited to be in a relationship. Line 24) The downfall of our relationship could be in jeopardy just because of something this pathetic. Line 25) I have no right to project my insecurities on Marvin. He deserves better than that. Line 26) I want to sort out how I feel so that I can resolve this issue ASAP. Line 27) Talulla has already dealt with so much that I don't want to include her in this either. Line 28) But, who could I turn to for advice on something like this? Talulla waves her hand across Calista’s face. Talulla Line 29) Hello? Earth to Calista? Talulla Line 30) Are you gonna answer my question? Calista gets out of her daze. Calista Line 31) Sorry, Talulla. It just dawned on me that I need to be somewhere. Calista bolts for the door. Calista Line 32) I’ll be back soon. Sorry for leaving you hanging like this. Calista leaves. Talulla is left there offended. She grabs Rex’s face. Talulla Line 33) Why does no one tell me anything anymore? She pets him. *Shot cuts to Marvin. He meets up with all his friends playing a card game at Todd’s place. Marvin Line 34) What’s up guys? Everyone greets Marvin (Jax, Cady, Todd, Russell). Russell Line 35) Shouldn’t you be hanging out with your girlfriend? Marvin Line 36) Well, yes. But, I should also make some time for my friends. Marvin Line 37) I’m offended you guys are hanging out without telling me. Cady Line 38) That was actually my doing. Cady Line 39) Since you canceled earlier in the week, I just assumed you would be busy for the rest of it too. Marvin Line 40) That’s alright. I understand. They play card games and hang out with each other. Marvin’s narration: Line 41) It’s so nice being together with everyone again. Line 42) I’ve realized just how much I missed all of them. Line 43) I don’t want to ruin the mood by mentioning my problems to them. Line 44) Since I'm in a relationship now, mentioning things like this will probably annoy them. Line 45) I’ll just keep it to myself, and sort it out on my own. They play and talk some more. The others leave and Marvin, Todd, and Russell are on their own. Russell Line 46) I’m gonna take off guys. Russell Line 47) I’ve got work early in the morning, so I can’t be out late. Russell Line 48) See you guys. They wave Russell off and he leaves. Todd stares at Marvin intensely. Marvin Line 49) What’s with the hard gaze dude? Todd Line 50) Something’s up with you. Marvin Line 51) Um. Everyone’s got things up with them. Todd Line 52) This runs deeper though. Todd Line 53) It’s bothering you intensely, but you feel like mentioning it would put people in an uncomfortable position. Todd Line 54) Spill the beans, brother. I’m all ears. Marvin smiles. Marvin Line 55) As usual, you’re on point. Marvin Line 56) But, I can’t divert the conversation about me. Marvin Line 57) Expect Elouise to say something to you later in the day. Todd is excited. Todd Line 58) What?! Did something happen? Marvin Line 59) Talulla handled the situation. Todd Line 60) I thought she said she couldn’t do it! Marvin Line 61) She did say that. But, she was able to figure it out. Todd is relieved and beams. Todd Line 62) I’m so happy! Todd Line 63) This changes everything! Todd smiles. Line 64) Marvin: I definitely can’t tell him what I’ve got going on after I said that. It’ll ruin the mood. Marvin Line 65) Well then, I’ll get going. Marvin Line 66) You’ve also got work early in the morning, so I can’t keep you up late. Todd Line 67) Hold up, Marvin! Todd Line 68) I can delay my work anytime I want to, you know that. Todd Line 69) Tell me what’s up. I wanna hear from you. Marvin hesitates and sighs. Marvin Line 70) It’s about Calista. Line 71) Marvin: I’m sure that’ll make him want to stop the conversation. Todd Line 72) Alright, go on. Marvin Line 73) We don’t have to keep going if you don’t want to hear about it. Todd Line 74) Did I say anything about that. Keep talking. Marvin sighs. Marvin Line 75) Since this is my first ever relationship, I’m still so unaware about things. Marvin Line 76) And I think the thing I’m unaware about is when enough is enough about sharing things with each other. Marvin Line 77) Calista mentioned my dad, and how she would want to meet him some time, just because he’s my dad. Marvin Line 78) I told her that wasn’t an issue, and it could be arranged, but she immediately felt guilty for simply mentioning it. Marvin Line 79) After that, she wouldn’t let it go. Marvin Line 80) You could tell she regretted mentioning it, and she apologized thoroughly if it bothered me. Marvin Line 81) I asked her why she was taking it so hard, and she said it was nothing. Marvin Line 82) I just don’t understand why she won’t tell me. Marvin Line 83) She’s obviously keeping something from me, which is why she’s holding back on saying anything. Marvin Line 84) I guess it must’ve hit her when she mentioned my dad. Marvin Line 85) So, I kept asking her what was wrong, but she told me to lay off. Marvin Line 86) Essentially, nicely saying that it was none of my business. Marvin Line 87) I feel like maybe I’m being too nosy. Marvin Line 88) But, I thought that as a couple we could share everything with each other. Marvin Line 89) So, I feel like it’s my fault. Marvin Line 90) Perhaps I made her feel unwelcomed, and that’s why she can’t seem to open up to me. Marvin Line 91) Whatever reason it is. It’s upsetting. Marvin Line 92) I’m giving her space at the moment and we haven’t talked in many hours. Todd takes in everything Marvin said. He grabs Marvin's hands. Todd Line 93) Listen, Marvin. None of this is your fault. Todd Line 94) I was in a similar situation. Todd Line 95) For years, Elouise couldn’t open up to me, even though I urged her all the time. Todd Line 96) At one point, I just left her alone. Todd Line 97) But, I told her that whenever she was ready to open up, I was gonna be there waiting for her. Todd Line 98) So, just do that. Todd Line 99) Whatever the situation is, it’s out of your control. Todd Line 100) I know that’s hard to believe. But, it’s the truth. Todd Line 101) This is something Calista has to sort out on her own. Todd Line 102) But, that doesn’t mean you can’t be there waiting for her, if she doesn’t want it to concern you. Todd Line 103) I know, I know. It sounds like a headache. Todd Line 104) But, you guys just started being a couple. Todd Line 105) So, take it easy. Todd Line 106) I can’t tell you how to experience things. Todd Line 107) You’re just going to have to go through it on your own to fully understand what I mean. Todd Line 108) You’ll make mistakes, and that’s normal. Todd Line 109) Just remember this is your first time. Todd Line 110) She’ll come around. Todd Line 111) Just continuing being there for her. Todd Line 112) All you have to do is let time take its course. Marvin's face goes blank as he realizes that’s what the affirmation was for their ceremony. Todd pats Marvin on the shoulder. Todd Line 113) Be patient, my friend. Marvin smiles. They say goodbye to each other at the porch entrance. Marvin hugs Todd tightly. He remembers how Todd passed away in their other lifetime. He gets emotional as he hugs him. Todd pulls away and notices Marvin’s tears. Todd Line 114) Dude, are you okay? Marvin Line 115) Sorry, I’ve just really missed you.
