Casimir proposes Sotsona and him go to a restaurant for dinner. What happens next?

Episode 19:

February 21st 2024. The day is Wednesday.

Casimir proposes for them to eat out in a restaurant at the mall and whether or not Sotsona would care to go out with him for dinner.

Sotsona

Line 1) I don’t mind.

Casimir

Line 2) Splendid! Where do you want to go?

Sotsona

Line 3) I have no clue. What do they have here?

Casimir pulls out his phone and shows Sotsona the restaurants they have at the mall.

He passes his phone to Sotsona and she takes a look at the place, but is clueless where they should go.

Sotsona

Line 4) I know nothing about these kinds of places.

Sotsona

Line 5) You choose something since you have the expertise.

Sotsona hands back Casimir’s phone.

Their hands slightly graze each others.

Casimir smiles.

Casimir

Line 6) Fine. I’ll choose something. But, you won’t be able to fiddle with my changes.

Sotsona

Line 7) That’s fine. Like I said, I trust you.

Casimir blushes.

Line 8) Casimir’s inner thoughts: Now why did she say that for a situation like this?

Casimir hides his face by covering it with his phone while he decides which restaurant to pick.

Casimir

Line 9) Do you like seafood?

Sotsona

Line 10) I don’t know. I’ve never broadened my horizons like that.

Casimir looks confused.

Casimir

Line 11) Huh? But, it’s just seafood. What horizon is there to broaden?

Sotsona

Line 12) Like what kind of seafood are you thinking of?

Casimir

Line 13) Sushi. They have a Japanese restaurant here that makes it fresh in front of you.

Sotsona

Line 14) I’ve never had sushi. How am I supposed to know if I like it or not?

Casimir smiles at Sotsona in shock.

Casimir

Line 15) Now we have to go. You have got to try it.

Sotsona gives an Casimir an uncertain expression.

Sotsona

Line 16) I don’t know. It sounds a bit risky.

Casimir

Line 17) It’s a Japanese restaurant so they don’t only serve sushi.

Casimir

Line 18) If you don’t feel comfortable eating it, you could always order something else.

Casimir

Line 19) But, I still feel like you should give it a shot.

Casimir

Line 20) Are you a picky eater or something?

Sotsona laughs.

Sotsona

Line 21) No… I’m just not THAT open-minded.

Casimir

Line 22) Well, then it’s time for you to open your mind. Let’s get going.

Casimir leads Sotsona to the restaurant.

They order a table for two and sit at it while getting handed menus.

Sotsona looks around the restaurant in fascination.

Line 23) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: Wow. It’s so cool in here.

Line 24) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: I like how it looks traditional, I hope the food is good.

Sotsona

Line 25) Have you been here before?

Casimir

Line 26) Yes I have. It’s one of my favorites.

Sotsona

Line 27) You say that for everything. Is everything your favorite?

Casimir

Line 28) Hey! I can have a lot of favorite things.

Sotsona

Line 29) Fine. What drinks do you recommend?

Casimir

Line 30) You should get Ramune.

Sotsona

Line 31) What’s that?

Casimir

Line 32) It’s soda. But, the bottle it comes in is cool.

Sotsona

Line 33) Is that it?

Casimir

Line 34) Well, yeah. But, you’re just going to have to see it for yourself.

A waiter comes by and Casimir orders the Ramune.

Sotsona

Line 35) Are you only going to order sushi?

Casimir

Line 36) Yep. It’s my favorite.

When Sotsona hears Casimir say something is his favorite again, she looks at him playfully annoyed.

He looks back at her noticing that he’s repeating himself.

Line 37) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: If everything is his favorite, how am I supposed to trust his choices?

Line 38) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: Like when he said it doesn't take much to please him or when he confessed he likes me only a couple days ago.

Line 39) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: He’s so agreeing. I just want to know what the catch is.

Line 40) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: There’s no way someone could be this joyful all the time.

Line 41) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: He has to have a bad side to him.

Line 42) Sotsona’s inner thoughts: So, what the heck is it?

Casimir

Line 43) Have you decided what you want to get?

Sotsona

Line 44) No. I don’t know what to get because I’m so unfamiliar with anything on the menu.

Casimir

Line 45) If that’s the case, then just order sushi.

Casimir

Line 46) What’s your set back? Just order it. And if you don’t like it, I’ll eat it for you.

Casimir

Line 47) If you’re still hungry, I can order something like… I don’t know. Chicken tenders and french fries?

Sotsona laughs at Casimir indirectly calling her a picky eater.

Sotsona

Line 48) Fine. I’ll get it, then.

Sotsona

Line 49) Can you recommend me what the best options are?

Casimir

Line 50) I got you.

Casimir points on the menu to which Sushi he recommends for Sotsona to get.

The waiter comes by and they order their options.

The waiter leaves and Sotsona and Casimir are on their own, not knowing what to say to each other.

Casimir

Line 51) … So, are you confident enough to speak with my mother?

Sotsona’s caught off-guard with that question.

Sotsona

Line 52) Uh. N-Not really. But, I’m sure I’ll be able to pull through with something when I meet with her.

Sotsona

Line 53) It’s not like she expects perfection, right?

Casimir looks at Sotsona nervously.

Sotsona senses Casimir's demeanor.

Sotsona

Line 54) Ah. What am I supposed to do then?

Casimir

Line 55) Um. I don’t know. But I’m sure you’ll eventually figure it out.

Casimir switches the topic as he notices Sotsona getting nervous.

Casimir

Line 56) Let’s not worry about it.

Casimir

Line 57) You’ve already got plenty on your plate.

Casimir

Line 58) I’m sorry I even asked you that to begin with.

Sotsona smiles at Casimir sympathetically.

Sotsona

Line 59) It’s cool. Don’t worry about me.

Sotsona

Line 60) I’m actually glad that you’re still talking normally with me*.

*Sotsona is implying how Casimir isn’t mentioning anything about cutting her parents off last night or acting uncomfortably pitiful towards her.

Sotsona

Line 61) Continue doing that. It’ll make me feel bad if you try to tip toe around my feelings.

Casimir

Line 62) Alright, then how are you holding up?

Sotsona freezes.

Sotsona

Line 63) ... I know I just said not to tip toe around my feelings, but, that doesn't mean I want you to bring up exactly what happened.

Casimir

Line 64) But, I told you to rip the bandaid off.

Casimir

Line 65) So, why is it still on?

Sotsona’s eyebrows quiver and she gets tense.

Sotsona

Line 66) … It’s not that simple.

Casimir

Line 67) No. It is. You’re just overcomplicating it.

Casimir

Line 68) You said yourself that you wanted to restart your life.

Casimir

Line 69) Restarting means making amends with what’s holding you back.

Casimir

Line 70) Not acting like it never happened to begin with. You can’t ignore it.

Casimir

Line 71) If you turn a blind eye to your problems, it’ll only come back to bite you in the a*s, and even harder than before.

Casimir

Line 72) Your number one priority right now is to heal from what’s broken you and try to move on.

Casimir

Line 73) If you don’t heal, you’ll hurt others. Trust me when I tell you that.

Casimir

Line 74) You have to let go. And to do that you have to be confrontational.

Casimir

Line 75) Obviously that’ll take time, but at least be self-aware about what’s going on.

Casimir

Line 76) Like I said. I’m here for you.

Sotsona clenches her first under the table they’re sitting at.

She tries to gather her wits.

Sotsona

Line 77) What’s the strongest drink they serve here?

Casimir looks at Sotsona in confusion.

Casimir

Line 78) Why are you asking?

Sotsona

Line 79) I want to relax. Let loose. I’m so stiff these days.

Casimir looks at Sotsona with worry in his eyes.

Casimir

Line 80) Is that really the smartest thing for you to do right now?

Sotsona

Line 81) You’re the one that said I get to splurge on myself.

Sotsona

Line 82) What makes drinking an exception? Let me have some fun.

Casimir sighs in concern.

Casimir

Line 83) I just don’t think that drinking in your state is the best thing for you to do.

Casimir

Line 84) Why don’t you talk to me instead of hurting your kidneys?

Sotsona upsettingly replies.

Sotsona

Line 85) Ugh! Why do I always have to be so sentimental? I hate being confrontational.

Sotsona

Line 86) You just saw me cry yesterday. Is that not enough vulnerability?

Sotsona rubs her head in distress.

Sotsona

Line 87) Gosh! And it was so embarrassing too.

Sotsona

Line 88) Please. I’m begging you. Let me forget about my problems for a little while.

Casimir sighs in disappointment.

Casimir

Line 89) Shochu is the strongest drink they serve.

Sotsona

Line 90) Then let me get it.

Casimir

Line 91) Fine, but don’t drink it on an empty stomach or you’ll die. I’m not joking when I say that.

The waiter comes by and serves them their drinks and sushi.

Casimir holds up the Ramune to show it to Sotsona.

Casimir

Line 92) This is the Ramune. Doesn’t it look cool?

Sotsona

Line 93) Uh. I don’t know. It looks normal to me.

Casimir

Line 94) Not until you do this.

Casimir opens the cap and presses it inside the drinking hole from the top of the bottle, so that the marble placed inside drops.

When the marble drops, the drink fizzles up.

Casimir beams.

Casimir

Line 95) See? Isn’t it cool?

Sotsona looks pleasantly surprised.

She it a shot at opening and her marbles drop too, fizzling up her drink.

She drinks the beverage and her eyes spark from the taste.

Sotsona

Line 96) It’s cool, I guess. Just a bit extra.

Casimir

Line 97) Alright. Time to try the sushi.

Casimir

Line 98) Do you know how to hold chopsticks?

Sotsona shakes her head no.

Casimir

Line 99) Let me teach you then.

Casimir hands Sotsona her chopsticks and guides her on how to hold them.

Casimir

Line 100) Hold the first chopstick like you’re holding a pencil.

Casimir

Line 101) Then place the second one next to it, using your other fingers to make them able to grab things from the bottom.

Casimir holds up his demonstration for Sotsona.

Casimir

Line 102) With this huge gap in the center, use your fingers to make the sticks grab onto food in a squeezing motion.

Casimir picks up sushi and drips it in soy sauce.

Casimir

Line 103) It’s as simple as that. Give it a try.

He plops the sushi in his mouth and nods his head from how good it is.

Sotsona tries to replicate what Casimir taught her and she gets the chopsticks to work.

Casimir

Line 104) Alright. Now through the gap grab onto that crunch roll to your left.

Sotsona picks up the sushi and eats it.

Casimir waits for her reaction after she finishes eating it.

Casimir

Line 105) So? Do you like it?

Sotsona nods her head and Casimir beams.

Casimir

Line 106) Yay! I told you that you would like it!

Sotsona

Line 107) Now can we order the Shochu?

Casimir rolls his eyes.

Casimir

Line 108) Take a few more bites and I’ll think about it.
