Something shocking happens after Elouise leaves. Marvin is set out on a journey.

April 19 2023. The day is Wednesday.

Episode 24:

After Elouise leaves. Calista goes to her room and opens her closet to see Marvin crammed in and on her phone.

Calista

Line 1) Hey it’s me. Sorry that took so long. 

Marvin

Line 2) Calista! I was getting worried.

Calista lends her hand for Marvin to get out of the closet.

Calista

Line 3) Sorry for making you concerned. I bet your muscles ache.

He takes her hand and gets out of the closet.

Marvin

Line 4) So, what happened?

Calista explains everything to Marvin back in the living room.

Marvin

Line 5) I’m sorry you had to deal with her.

Calista

Line 6) It’s alright. Fingers crossed this will be our last encounter.

Calista

Line 7) You weren’t kidding when you told me she was a snob.

Marvin smiles.

Marvin

Line 8) I truly thank you for backing me up. At this point it must be so annoying to constantly have to do that.

Calista

Line 9) Well, if I’m being honest. There are times where I wonder why I put myself in this situation. But, then I remember that it’s all for us to reach our goal of getting you home.

Calista

Line 10) If that means I have to deal with angsty people, then I’ll do it all for your sake.

Marvin

Line 11) That means a lot to me. Thank you.

Calista nods her head and starts washing the dishes from the tea Elouise and her had.

Calista gets a ping on her phone from someone. Marvin checks since he was last with it.

Text from Russell reads:

Hey, are you available at 3:00PM for a blind date? I found someone who is interested.

Marvin

Line 12) Hey Calista?

Calista

Line 13) Yeah?

Marvin

Line 14) Russell just messaged me asking if I could go on a blind date today at 3PM.

Calista is shocked.

Calista

Line 15) Wow! He found someone so quickly.

Marvin

Line 16) Yeah I guess he did.

Calista

Line 17) Huh. You must be popular with the ladies.

Marvin

Line 18) Oh come on. He said it was a blind date. That means neither of us know each other, right?

Calista

Line 19) Oh that’s right. See? You know a lot more than I do already.

Marvin smiles.

Marvin

Line 20) So, can I go?

Calista

Line 21) Of course. I’ll take you there.

Calista

Line 22) And quit asking me for permission. I told you you’re free to do whatever you want.

Marvin

Line 23) Sorry. I just can’t help it.

Calista

Line 24) Please ask him what the dress code is and where the date will be held.

Marvin does just that and Russell replies.

Marvin

Line 25) He said the attire is formal, and he sent a link for the address. I think it’s a restaurant.

Calista

Line 26) Ooh. Fancy. That’s exciting.

Calista looks at Marvin and glances at him from head to toe. He’s a bit uncomfortable with the off-guard judgment.

Marvin

Line 27) Um. Is everything okay?

Calista

Line 28) I feel like we might need to get you something to wear for the date. 

Marvin

Line 29) Can’t I just wear my suit?

Calista

Line 30) It’s in the laundry. By the time it's washed and dried you’ll be late.

Marvin

Line 31) Is there anything your brother can lend me?

Calista

Line 32) I think he has a suit, but it might be tight on you.

Calista

Line 33) Don’t take offense. It’s nothing about your size. It’s just an old suit he had ever since he was a teenager.

Calista

Line 34) I always told him to give it away, but he never listened to me and let it collect dust deep in his closet.

Calista

Line 35) Now that I think about it, I should probably do something about it if it doesn’t fit you.

Calista

Line 36) Anyways. If you think it’s worth a shot. You should try it on.

Marvin is in the bathroom trying on Calista’s brother’s suit.

The suit is super snug on him, but he managed to get it on.

Line 37) Marvin: I think this will do. Even though it’s super tight.

Line 38) Marvin: I really don’t want Calista to spend anymore money on me.

Calista knocks on the bathroom door to check in on Marvin.

Calista

Line 39) How’s it going in there?

Marvin opens the door and Calista looks at him.

Calista

Line 40) It looks like you can't move much in that.

Marvin

Line 41) That’s basically the gist.

Calista

Line 42) Yeah. We’re gonna need a new outfit.

Marvin

Line 43) No thank you. I’ll power through the date with this

Calista

Line 44) Alright then. Prove it.

Marvin gave Calista a shocked look.

Calista

Line 45) Give me 10 jumping jax’s right now.

Marvin

Line 46) Wouldn’t that rip the suit?

Calista

Line 47) It’s fine. Just do it.

Marvin does 1 jumping jax and the suit automatically rips.

Marvin looks at the rips in shock and uneasiness.

Calista

Line 48) Don’t worry. It was a piece of junk anyways.

Marvin

Line 49) But it’s your brothers.

Calista

Line 50) I’ve told him countless times before to do something about it. Having realized he had it, I was going to give it away anyway.

Calista

Line 51) But now it’ll just go in the trash.

Marvin

Line 52) Are you sure you’re okay with this?

Calista

Line 53) I’m positive.

Calista

Line 54) Anyways get changed into some regular clothes. We’re gonna go to the mall.

They are now on the bus to their way at the mall. They enter a store and Marvin follows Calista.

Calista

Line 55) Do you want to pick some things out for yourself?

Marvin nods his head and picks out some button up shirts, a suit, and some ties.

Calista

Line 56) Alright, get changed in them at the fitting room and then show me.

Marvin gets changed into his first outfit but with no tie.

Calista

Line 57) Are you saving the tie for later?

Marvin

Line 58) Truth is. I don’t know how to put one on. My friends always had to help me.

Calista

Line 59) Do you want me to show you?

She approaches Marvin and ties his tie for him.

Calista

Line 60) Then you do it like that. Is that too tight?

Marvin shakes his head no. He looks at himself in the mirror.

Calista

Line 61) Wow. It’s like the cherry on top for this outfit. Don’t you think?

Marvin smiles.

Marvin

Line 62) You’re right.

He tries on more outfits and Calista approves of them all.

They exit the shop and get back on the metro and back to their apartment. 

Marvin is now getting ready in the bathroom for his date. He is styling his hair.

He exits the bathroom.

Calista

Line 63) I think it’s time we head out. You ready?

Marvin

Line 64) Yes ma’am.

Marvin

Line 65) I swear I’ll owe you back all your money.

Calista

Line 66) Oh come on. I’m just helping you out. You don’t owe me anything.

Marvin

Line 67) But your face when the cashier gave you your receipt said it all.

Calista being shocked at the prices for all that she paid and Marvin looking over.

Calista

Line 68) I was just a bit shocked. But it’s nothing I can’t afford.

*Not true. Will take her a couple of months to replenish all she’s spent. But she loves shopping so can’t be bothered.

Marvin

Line 69) Thank you, Calista.

Calista

Line 70) Of course.

Marvin

Line 71) You’re probably one of the most considerate people I’ve ever met. I appreciate all that you’ve done for me.

Calista

Line 72) You’re welcome. Anyways let’s get going.

They arrive at their date right on time at the restaurant. Marvin is holding a bouquet of flowers that they stopped by to buy.

Calista spots a girl sitting by herself at the blind date.

Calista

Line 73) I think that’s her, Marvin.

Marvin glances and thinks it’s her as well.

Calista

Line 74) Take my phone again like last time, okay?

Calista gives her phone to Marvin and gives him one last glance.

Calista

Line 75) You look nervous. But don’t be. You’re gonna do great.

Calista

Line 76) Best of luck to you. And break a leg.

Marvin

Line 77) Do you think I look good enough?

Calista

Line 78) I told you that it’s not about whether you’re good enough. You just have to be yourself. That's more than enough, trust me.

Calista

Line 79) And besides. You look great.

Calista pictures him in the finger style.

Calista

Line 80) Straight out of a cover from a magazine.

Marvin smiles.

Calista

Line 81) Don’t be worried. Just keep your cool. 

Calista

Line 82) Anyways. I'm gonna go now. Call or text if somethings up.

Calista walks off. And Marvin walks up to the girl. From Calista’s point of view everything looks good.

Line 83) Calista: Everything looks set. I’ll be on my way now.

Shot pans to Marvin approaching the girl.

Line 84) Marvin: Take a deep breath. Everything will be fine. Just be charming. Even Calista said you looked good. So, you shouldn’t worry about anything.

Marvin is proud of himself for impressing Calista.

Marvin

Line 85) Excuse me ma’am. Are you waiting for someone named Marvin by any chance?

The lady looks up at Marvin and has a sad look on her face.

Marvin’s date

Line 86) You shouldn’t have brought flowers.

Marvin is shocked.

Marvin

Line 87) But isn’t that what people usually do on dates?

Marvin’s date

Line 88) Just sit.

Marvin

Line 89) Well it’s nice to meet you. I didn’t catch your name.

Marvin’s date

Line 90) Let’s just cut to the chase. There’s something you should know.

Marvin is shocked.

Marvin

Line 91) What is it?

Marvin’s date

Line 92) I’m not here to get to know you.

Marvin has a confused expression on his face.

Marvin

Line 93) I-I don’t understand. Isn’t that the whole point of this meet-up?

Marvin’s date

Line 94) It is. But I was hoping you could just help me out.

Marvin’s date

Line 95) The thing is I’m actually filling in for someone who was supposed to be here.

Marvin

Line 96) So, you’re not my actual date?

The lady nods her head yes.

Marvin’s date

Line 97) I was hoping you wouldn’t show up. So, that I wouldn’t have to tell you and I could just leave. But here you are.

Marvin’s date

Line 98) My friend was the one who needed to show up today. But she begged that I go instead since she has a boyfriend and her parents are forcing her to go on blind-dates because they’re disapproving of her partner.

Marvin’s date

Line 99) So, that’s why I’m here. Don’t take that the wrong way.

Marvin

Line 100) If that’s the reason why couldn’t she just cancel the date instead of waste my time?

Marvin’s date

Line 101) Her parents are in touch with whoever set her up and they need a confirmation that the both of you went on a date. Which is why she couldn’t just cancel it.

Line 102) Marvin: This is unfair. I’m just being used. 

Line 103) Marvin: How should I make the most out of this meet-up though?

Marvin

Line 104) Well if that’s why she decided to do this. Why don’t you and I just date? If you’re interested.

The lady sighs.

Marvin’s date

Line 105) I’m taken. And you’re not my type.

Marvin stood there in shock.

Marvin

Line 106) So, what am I supposed to do now?

Marvin’s date

Line 107) We can still have dinner, just not in the interest of dating.

Marvin’s date

Line 108) Oh and can you pay? I don’t have my wallet with me.

Marvin looks disappointed.

He stands up.

Marvin

Line 109) Well since there’s no reason for me to be here. I’ll be on my way now. Farewell.

Marvin’s date

Line 110) I’ll gladly accept the flowers.

Marvin

Line 111) That’s alright. I’m keeping them. Goodbye.

He leaves and the lady shouts.

Marvin’s date

Line 112) Don’t forget to confirm that you went on a date with my friend and not actually me!

Marvin nods his head and leaves the restaurant.
