ArachnophobiaA Poem by YoshiPiccolloHave ever come across something that you absolutely cannot stand?Arachnophobia Tiny hairs on my arms raised as The goosebumps plumped Like freshly baked dough. Harsh & shallow breaths tore
through my body As the eight-legged monstrosity approached. Normally they were small & easy
to ignore- An illusion to the mind’s eye; But this one boasted prickly legs
that Towered over the frogs that
frequented the garage. A giant among the world of toes and
feet. Its multiple eyes seemed to mock my
irrational response Of hopping around like that of a
cartoon elephant seeing a mouse. Hysteria began its lethal grip on
my emotions as the spider crawled closer, Freezing me in a place of
vulnerability and self-pity. There was no escape. The goosebumps creeped down to my
feet As the spider’s legs used my toes
as a step ladder To escape the frigid cement and my scream Ricocheted off the walls of my
mouth Piercing the ears of anyone close
