Journal. # 460.

Hello old friend,

The search is on hold today, as the Gods of the elements are angry. The wind gusts and the waves prevent us from going out. It has been a week now, yet I am certain I will find them. The RCMP has joined us in our search. My family is content and more people offer to help. I have finally slept, I have also eaten and my heart yet is gloomy.

One of my uncle’s has rented a pilot and a single propeller plane. I wish it were like the movies, where a helicopter or huge a boat, search intensively. Out here, we are the search and rescue. We are grounded and we cannot do anything… But uncle has gone to search from above.

From there, we can pin point the location if they are spotted. I only pray my friend. It is, are only hope…

My heart still weeps, and I show no tears. I may look hardened to some but on the inside, I am a pool of tears. Drowning in my own sorrows…

God forgive me for thinking the way I did. I do not want to dwell in my sorrows... I cannot live with these nightmares. Why can’t I escape them? Why?

The waves are treacherous, almost like a squall. They are demons that tease me. They have swallowed my family whole and they call out…

“Come out, come out and join us. So happy and so free, out here you can live with me. Be free, be free among the sea.”

They are like whispers in the wind, I sometimes feel like giving in to this prancing call. I watch how the waves lift and crash against the dock. How the boats rock back and forth among the waves in this howling wind…

The sound of them crashing, is how I am inside my soul. A storm brews within my heart; will I ever see the sun again?

Will I ever feel that warmth upon my face?

With little hope that I have remaining, I only pray we find them. So long for now old friend, until my pen meets you again.

Sometimes I think guilt drives us on because we can't face reality and live with the grief.
