Red lightA Poem by lawrence bearA Goalies PrayerThey shouted “Red light,” The crowd had heckled me. After the goal, My head drops in agony. They screamed, With words ever so taunting. A crowd had booed me, Some others were laughing. A goaltenders retreat, Is to sink back in his net. Block out the crowd, And try to forget. No more after this, That is my aim. Save after save, I will win the game. Here he comes, He shoots, he scores. Another one, The crowd roars. The coach’s call, Again my head drops in defeat. The sirens wailing, I skate off and take my seat. Red light, red light They laughed and teased. My moment of glory, Now suddenly, deceased. That’s okay, It’s all right. I’ll live to play, Another night. © 2010 lawrence bearAuthor's Note
