Here's Looking At YouA Poem by timthyJust a little insight from the one looking back at you
Poised in front of a mirror
At the tender age of thirteen With no intention to be the bearer Of future failures unforeseen Standing there ever so proudly Content with my sense of pride Future self in reflection screams loudly True to oneself you must abide The mirror provides a reflection Fire and sand creates two sides To reflect by definition Is to learn where weakness hides That young man at age thirteen Saw in his own image such success Wondered about what this life means Left to my own devices , made his life a mess I embrace this child inside This part of me that is so innocent I want to shower him with love denied And inform him of where the time went As i gaze once again upon that mirror I envision that young boy So young , so ripe, so full of vigor Characteristics i can employ As I cherish the youth inside me With caution of the things I do The mirror reflects things we can't see So remember who's looking at you... © 2014 timthy |
