How It Applies To You

How It Applies To You

A Poem by timthy
"

Another crash course into addiction 101...

"

In the name of God

    God bless the Christ

Forever claiming sanctuary

    Upon my life

Cursed be to thee

    The tie that tightly binds

Blessed be to thee

    The noose that reminds

Until death do us part

    My marriage to the bottle

Only union I can manage

We are always dancing full throttle

I promise to love you

Both in sickness and in health

Loving the next drink to pieces

     While hating myself

When I cannot have you

Oh , how my heart paces

The more I have of you

     My pulse feverishly races

Absolute love of my life

As you keep my eyes twitching

Bottle has become weapon

     Lacerated soul that needs stitching

Why did you conceive me

I do not even believe me

Only there to deceive me

     Now come and retrieve me

Born to be a menace

     A weed amongst grass

An unwelcomed invasion

A huge pain in the a*s

Seeing what there is to come

     Confusingly anticipated

Death equaling death

     Ironically reciprocated

Skin over skeleton

     Mere flesh covered bone

An embryonic disaster

     That is best left alone

I have ben hearing the rhetoric

     Addiction my tumor

Not agnostic , nor heretic

Just Gods sick sense of humor

Soul so sore and free

     Has been caged and captured

By a hole that is me

     Diabolically enraptured

Elimination

     Needing to dominate

Domination

     Needing to eliminate

In a life so benign

     Like a theatrical trailer

Glimpse of life so divine

     Feature presentation of failure

A God given gift

     Of killing myself

Permanently on second shift

Self esteem , off the shelf

Alcohol is the name

      Destruction the game

Just take that next drink

      The outcome is the same

Placing bottle in mouth

      Like the barrel of gun

Life gone imminently south

      Now isn't this fun?

Jails, institutions, and death

      Only future with promise

Life of stinking breath

      And skin that is jaundiced

As I gaze in the mirror

      See through my own face

Skull prison of terror

      Past, present, and future encased

My present a nightmare

      Cerebral porcelain palace

False identity I share

With a heart that is calloused

I kneeled and I cried

      At the altar today

Higher power denied

      Shrugged, and then turned away

I awake every morn

      Challenging mortality

The day I was born

      Began my fatality

With method to my madness

      Madness to my method

Writhing in infinite sadness

      Envious of the dead...

Hi Tim this seems to be a deep effort to soul search. It is something we all do if we are normal. We learn from mistakes But to addictions we fight them it matters little if we win so long as we try
