The Bikini

The Bikini

A Poem by Yemariam Markos
"

Another product of a workshop

"
I don't want to, but I have to
I have to look at the swimsuit I wore
at the beach in Miami
And think about that amazing day
That amazing day, where people yell at you in Spanish,
and apologize because they thought you'd
understand.
That amazing day, where we could not stop laughing
If we did, we could not stop smiling
That amazing day, where I met amazing people...
They're hard to forget
That amazing day, where we would stare at the ocean,
watch it moving and easily lose track of time.
I have to look at it and remember how much it took in me
not to stay
I've lost track of time
And it's taking everything in me not to go back.

To avoid any confusion, the topic of the workshop was unpacking a suitcase.
