The Delight of Failure

The Delight of Failure

A Poem by Yemariam Markos

I'm surrounded
by scrutinizing glares
They have unclear identities
Unclear intentions
I keep walking forward, but
harsh whispers pull me ten steps back
I try to keep going, ignore whoever hates me
I don't see them, so surely they don't exist
The eyes slowly disappear
And in their place, green lips
Snarling at me and yelling so loud the walls shake:
"You failed!"

So why exactly am I still smiling?

i like the twist to the poem, it makes me think that despite the failure here i am still standing tall.
