Lucy

A Poem by Yemariam Markos

This poem is another poem that is a result of a writing workshop. Hope you like it!

I used to be a dog named Lucy
I was everyone's best friend when no one else was around
I had eyes almost as dark as the most evil person
Strawberry-red tongue that was always hanging out of my mouth
And a creepy, yet comforting permanent smile on my face
My fur was brown and like clouds- anyone could get lost forever on the comforting sensation it provides
We did everything together, the children and I
They took me on walks- though they did all the walking
They gave me baths- though they were the ones to watch me spin in bubbly water
I wasn't like other dogs
But they loved me
And I loved them
Now I'm in a box with all the others.
