The Path of Love

The Path of Love

A Poem by yinghua12

The Path of Love

they say that love is just 'round the corner

I must be walking in circles

cause everywhere I go

it's an endless wall

and just when it doesn't seem so bad

looking like there's a corner coming up ahead

my hearts in my throat

I'm hoping for love

it's a foreign feeling

but I don't know what it is

one minute I think it's love

the next it seems

like I'll never be happy again

I've been turning corners for a while now

and when I turned that corner and bumped into you

at first I was so sure

that I had found love

but I've turned another corner

and things seem to have changed

it feels different then it did before

corners and corners

an endless maze of unending corners

some lead to love, full of happiness

but most lead to grief, full of pain and hurt

there's no way to tell

what you'll be feeling next

and how long you'll be walking before you reach another corner

one day feeling so happy and elated

the next wishing I'd never been born

what I would give

to be able to tell the future

if only it was possible

to never have to travel down that path of grief again

to always stay on that path of love
