Poppies

 

 

in the field where poppies grow wild

a lone girl wandering chanced upon a boy

and as they walked together their lives intertwined

always together, always loving

they were soulmates if ever existed

 

in the field where poppies grow wild

a pair of soulmates wandered and lived

and days went by and suddenly she appeared

out of nowhere, out of the blue

she took him away from that one lone girl

 

in the field where poppies grow wild

a lone girl lies nursing her broken heart

and though she feels the call to sleep

she cannot sleep, she cannot rest

her heart lies shattered by her side
