Birthday Poem

I wrote this for a friend.

 

This is a poem I wrote you,

Because today is your birthday!

And to actually buy you something,

The store would’ve made me pay.

So tell yourself this is worth more,

Than something I could have bought.

But if you really think about it,

You will see that it is not.

Because this poem doesn’t even

Include your name in one line.

That’s so if I use it again,

For someone else it will work just fine.

So have a wonderful day,

Happy birthday [insert name here]!

Congrats on being [insert age],

And for living another year.

 

I was only joking of course,

There is more than just this rhyme,

Sorry if I had you fooled,

Unfold this paper one more time.

 

Author's Note

The first 16 lines are on the front of the card, the last 4 on the inside. Then when you unfold the card there is money inside.
